Welcome to the 12th edition of Republik of Mancunia: The Paper. That’s right, this is our 12th edition, meaning the forum has now been around for a whole year. Time flies when you’re having fun eh? I have thoroughly enjoyed the past twelve months on the forum, and we’ve been fortunate enough to see our team as well as the forum grow from strength to strength. So thanks to all of you who have been a part of that, including Sil, Jorge and Adam who have helped enormously in keeping this place ticking over.
In this edition we’ll reveal the results of our anniversary celebration competition, and a big thanks to all those that entered. To see the winners and runners up, click here for the Hall of Fame.
It’s at this time I’ll remind you of our longer running competition. Up for grabs is a United > England hoodie which is worth over £20.
The competition is of a creative nature, and we’re asking for submissions of any form, and the topic is United 06/07. This means you can write an article, poem, chant, song or make a video or image. If you have any questions on this, don’t hesitate to PM any of the staff. The cut off date for this will be May 13th (FA Cup Final) and the winner will be announced May 23rd (Champions League Final). So get thinking! The hoodie is completely free, as is p&p, so we encourage as many of you as possible to take part!
As a celebration of our year anniversary, we’ve added a new design to the shop. The youngsters have had plenty of credit and recognition this season, so we opted to go for one of the golden oldies. “Giggs will tear you apart again”
Just a reminder that the shop is still alive and kicking, with a whole host of designs representing what the club really stands for. All these designs are available on: t-shirts, hoodies, vests, badges, aprons, calendars, scarves, mugs, umbrellas, bags, rucksacks etc. Several more ladies goods have been added too. Also, a simpler search method has been added to the top, where you can search by design or product.
Another quick piece of news, Keano16 and Rais.n.Hell have now contributed to The Paper 5 times, so get their contributor button for their sigs. A big congratulations and thanks to them.
The reviews found in The Paper for Player and Match go up on the RoM.org Blog, so if you fancy seeing your opinions up there, drop me a PM and let me know what you fancy writing. At RoM.org we try to encourage a varied group of people to write our reviews, so do join in. Get in touch
Now let us begin:
Member of the Month
Another difficult choice this month, with there being several candidates in the short list. This month’s winner is a lady who is active on the boards, and posts sensible ideas. She certainly blows out of the water the misconception that women know nowt about footie. So, I’m sure you’ll all join me in congratulating mufc2911 as this month’s winner.
Interview
Time for the member interview. Tatty has kindly taken the time to give us a bit of insight on himself…
Real name: Matthew Walsh
Where are you from: Sale, Manchester
Who is your biggest inspiration: Probably my Dad, he's been pretty much a leading light in my entire life.
What would you like to be better at: Playing guitar. I'm pretty awful as I've only just started, so with a bit of practice I'll get better. I wish I was better at football too.
If you could ask anyone, living or dead, a question, who and what would it be? I'd ask Bill Clinton why Monica Lewinsky? He was the President of the US he could've had his pick of bitches.
What is your all time favourite film? Man, I'm not a massive film buff but I dug the entire Matrix trilogy, Forest Gump and Shawshank Redmeption are up there too.
If you won the lottery, how would you spend it? A new house, pay my Mum and Dad's debts off, really boring stuff.
One job in the world, what would it be? United's Number 7!
What’s your biggest ambition in life? To be happy I guess, I've never really been really ambitious as I'm too lazy to reach goals I set.
What’s your greatest ever achievement? Probably getting 4 jobs without ever having an interview. Haha.
What’s your biggest regret? Not finishing my degree, that'll be rectified soon enough.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years time? In my own house, with a decent job. Still going to watch the Mighty Reds.
Who do you hate most: City/Liverpool/Leeds/Arsenal/Other Liverpool.
What do you think we'll win this season? Title and Champions League
Whats the best game you've ever been too? Probably the 6-1 win over Arsenal. If not the 3-3 with Barcelona at OT.
Who's your favourite member on the forum? Dizzy.
Who do you want to see us sign this summer? Steve Sidwell but he looks Toon bound, Huntelaar and Philip Lahm.
Who has been your player of the season? Darren Fletcher... Nah Ronaldo by a country mile.
Anything else you want to tell us?If you ever meet me buy me Cider. Lots of it!

At The Theatre
When we go to the theatre, we expect to see a show, be entertained. At the end of the show, when the curtain comes down, the majority of us go home happy safe in the knowledge that the ticket fee was money well spent. Every week or so, little and large, young and old, 75000+ attend this special theatre. Old Trafford is a theatre, the best theatre on the planet. We see the same faces, the same cast members, and the story always stays the same. But we never get bored. How can you get bored when it is so dreamy?
Old Trafford. Manchester. Theatre Of Dreams.
