Boyz II Men is an American R&B/soul singing group from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Founded in 1988 as a quintet, Boyz II Men found fame as a quartet, with members Wanya Morris, Michael McCary, Shawn Stockman, and Nathan Morris, on Motown Records during the early 1990s.
Based on sales, Boyz II Men is one of the most successful R&B groups of all time. It has recorded five #1 R&B hits between 1992 and 1997 and has since sold more than 85 million records. Three of its #1 hits, "End of the Road", "I'll Make Love to You", and "One Sweet Day" (a duet with Mariah Carey), set and broke records for the longest period of time a single remained at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
...and then there were three, the once quad have been reduced to a trio since Michael McCary left the most successful R&B band ever, due to scoliosis (chronic back problems).
It's like they have never been away, the single off this album is "Muzak" and from that it seemed the album would be poor and live in the shadows of what had preceeded, but once you get the album and forget about that it's Boyz II Men back to their good old selves even without the Barry White-like voice of Michael, yes he's the one who'd speak over tracks such as "I'll Make Love To You" and get the girls in the audience wet. Lol!
"Gonna Have" and "Here I Come" set the album off greatly, with some old school B2M, they have also adjusted to the times with "Muzak", "Booed Up" & "Ego".
Boyz II Men fans won't be disappointed with this album, not one bit. It's brought back the ol' skool days of great R&B even if they've lost one of their voices.
Jagged Edge and Boyz II Men are keeping the R&B scene locked...still!
