Review
Nas is back, not since "Street's Disciple" have we had him release an album and the long wait is justified.

He's reconciled his differences with Jay-Z, someone he had himself destroyed on "Ether" a track from historical rap album, "Stillmatic" - and it's worked.

This album is great, the first single to be taken is "Hip Hop Is Dead" featuring Will.I.Am, a great track where he highlights some of the reasons for the downfall of what in my opinion, is the greatest genre of music.

"Black Republican" is another great track as is "Hustlers" where he has teamed up with legends of the game Jay-Z & Dr. Dre to bring rap back.

With albums like this one, Jay-Z's "Kingdom Come", Snoop Dogg's "Tha Blue Carpet Treatment" & Dr. Dre's "Detox" up and coming it shows how rap is being reborn by the classic artists, who are showing the newcomers how it should be done.

A great album, Escobar is back!!!

greatest genre of music? What about it do you feel makes it worthy of such a lofty accolade? Not being facetious, I'm genuinely curious.

Well, as a music genre I think it represents the life and struggle of people who grew up out of slums. The artists write, perform and touch so many people with their life, and some of the lyrics can touch many and represent so many people's lifes who's voice will never be heard.

The power it has is amazing, look at Bush's take on rap for example.. he hates the darn thing.

When compared to pop and such, there's artists who can't sing, can't dance, don't write and generally don't deserve to be music artists.

What other music genre has such an effect on people's lives? Now, I am of course on about the real rap not none of this bullshit about bling and rims...real rap. From KRS-One, to Jam Master Jay, to Tupac & Biggie..real rappers, real struggle.

A genre which could be represented as Tupac would say "the rose that grew from concrete".

I'm sure some people will think another genre is, but that's what I think.

Hip hop is dead? Hip hop and rap has never been bigger than it is right now, you talk about KRS-One, Jam Master Jay, Tupac & Biggie but rewind back to after the later were murdered and hip hop was nothing, try listening to anything decent back then, yeah you had Wu tang but just listening to anything Snoop did on Mater P's record. LL Cool J, Coolio, Salt N' Pepa and the mother Vanilla Ice.

Naz again, preaches in his songs and is all about his lyrical content but if you can't deliveret well and with enough flow ala Biggie then it doesn't mean shit.

I've given it as listen so far, it takes me 4 or 5 listens before I found out what I like or dislike. Hustlers is a great track so far!

If we're talking about rap being a great genre, give mention to Immortal Technique, there's some great lyrics.
