I've seen Texas Chainsaw Massacre, seen saw 1 and 2, but never got around to seeing the 3rd one, Have the Exorcist and the Omen triolgy on DVD as they're amongst my favourite films, never watched the new Omen film though. I love horror films, I just don't get scared or anything watching them I suppose there's a difference between being scared and being made to jump. But there's no way you can watch the new Omen film I just watched and not jump. If you watch the film with a sort of distent perspective then you probably will find it funny. Try putting yourself in their shoes. I watched war of the worlds at the cinema and it's probably one of the scariest things i've seen. The feeling of helplesness and the poor guy trying desperatley to save his daughter is fucking haunting!

The feeling of helplesness and the poor guy trying desperatley to save his daughter is fucking haunting! I just really don't scare or jump easily, remember watching the ring in the cinema, the american version that is, and the bloke in front of me kept jumping throughout the film, waving his arms everywhere, I nearly had an eye out. I might watch the new Omen film on Box Office tonight, has to wait till after Waking The Dead though. I might just have a very morbid sense of humour, or maybe I just find it amusing watching my mates or whomever getting scared. I just rarely jump watching films, because I can see most of it common. EDIT: Going to watch the Omen now, see if it's good.

There are some really scary ass Japanese films out there. I don't mean the Ring films but other really weird stuff that will freak you out on a whole different level. If you get a chance watch a film called Audition, it starts slowly but turns into a living nightmare.

I've got a mate who's hooked on everything japanese. I watched a film called The Eye that I really liked, that was chinese though. Asian horror films are on a completely different level from American ones, they focus on the psychological part, which is more scary to a lot of people than blood and gore.
The Omen is over now, or just about at least. This has got to be one of the most pathetic attempts of a remake I've seen.

"The Omen is over now, or just about at least"
You watched it at 8pm and obviously not properely, or you wouldn't be typing on computer before it'd finished. Can't believe that didn't freak you out. All the refrences to today like 9/11 and war ect. Refrences to the bible and the star of david. And if you don't find flashes of a druid laughing while dropping a dead baby to the floor a bit freaky, maybe you are just a bit disturbed!

All the refrences to today like 9/11 and war ect. Refrences to the bible and the star of david. And if you don't find flashes of a druid laughing while dropping a dead baby to the floor a bit freaky, maybe you are just a bit disturbed! it started at 7 and so ended at ten to nine. I thought it was poor, a poor poor remake. I had to do other things at the same time just to make sure I didn't fall asleep watching it. The original Omen was great, the kid who played Damian incredible. This film was jumpy, the actors were all but convincing, and it wouldn't have made a difference whether I'd watched it at noon or midnight, except at midnight it is quite possible I would have fallen asleep. It's without a doubt one of the poorest remakes I've ever seen, and as for the remarks to 9/11 etc, people have been saying that was a sign of armageddon since it happened. As for other references in the bible, armageddon has already been interpreted to have begun so many times now... it just gets old. I'm not christian, so I don't believe in the bible anyhow, but seeing the original Omen, that actually makes you believe the story. This was just a poor imitation, created to make some quick money on people who haven't seen the original As for the druid dropping the dead baby, I didn't even flinch, I saw it coming, that's not scary. I never claimed not to be disturbed though

I thought it was great. I watched the orginal the other and it was pretty shit. Not as good as the poltiguist even.
This film is much scarier and more relivent up to date remake. The sound of the dog at one point in the film is scary enough by itself! I think the creapy refrences to the book of revelations were brilliantly done and that makes it far better than the original. Definately scarier. As for the acting there are some great actors in the film like David Thewis and Kobayashi from teh Usual supsects.

Well I guess that will just depend on what each person finds scary, I don't really get scared watching anything, but I get fascinated or films make me think, this remake didn't.

4 Weddings and a Funeral is a funny film! Each to their own, some people prefer special effects (which weren't even that good, the speering of the priest for example looked like a computer game not the actuall film) over in debt psychological attempts of frightening people

This is where the Asian filmakers have it nailed on. I thought the original Omen was great, as was the exorcist but today it's really the Asian market, in particular the Japanese that seems to understand the true nature of a horror film. This is even further evidenced by the remakes of the Ring, Dark Water etc that are nowhere near as effective as the originals.

Agree regarding Asian horror. Psychological horror is far more effective than the 'in your face' scare flicks that hollywood churns out ad tedium. I'll be honest, i only bothered to watch this film because of the obvious talents of Diora Baird.
