From BBC:
Golfers could soon be forced to improve their driving accuracy if they want success, as golf's governing bodies contemplate radical new regulations.
The Royal and Ancient Club is proposing changes to the grooves on clubs, making it far tougher to get out of the rough.
The changes could come into force for professionals by January 2009.
R&A director of rules and equipment standards David Rickman said: "It is a matter of ensuring that skill remains the dominant element of success."
A five-month consultation period with equipment manufacturers now begins which will also help determine when the new rules would come into effect for ordinary handicap golfers.
However, a concessionary period of at least 10 years is anticipated, recognising the costs involved in changing equipment.

Why don't they use 2 balls? I used to and I always kept a spare in my pocket - just in case!
Golf - it just ruins a good walk! WALK I said...

This isn't nearly radical enough. I say, replace Golf Balls with Rugby Balls and replace Clubs with Dust Bins.
Also. Add an Offside rule.

Yes! There should also be scrums, and they're not allowed to pot the black ball.

I was hoping it was that it was the ball starts in the hole and u have to get it to the tee, but should be good hitting it into the rough should be a bigger disadvantage and making it harder to get out would do that
