F1 extends calendar to 18 races
The Formula One season will contain 18 Grands Prix in 2008, including two new street races in Valencia and Singapore. And the calendar released by governing body the FIA on Friday does start as usual in Australia, contrary to earlier claims by the Melbourne organisers.
The season is one race longer than this year to accomodate the new events.
The Valencia race is on 24 August with Singapore on 28 September. Both are conditional upon the tracks being approved by the FIA.
The Canadian race on 8 June is listed as provisional pending contractual confirmation.
And there is a reprieve for France, which F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone had previously said would not be on the calendar next year.
That move comes after a meeting between Ecclestone and prime minister Francois Fillon.
The season will end on 2 November in Brazil, as has become the norm, and the British Grand Prix is on 6 July.
The Turkish race has been moved from August to 11 May, to accomodate the Valencia event.
The schedule released by the FIA on Friday does not indicate whether Singapore will be a night race - as has been discussed so it is held at a time more convenient for European TV viewers.
But the organisers of the Australian race have already said their event will not be held at night.
"Our investigations have convinced us that as things currently stand, the disadvantages outweigh the advantages," said race organiser Ron Walker.
"Instead, we have decided to run the F1 race later on Sunday, moving the start time from 1400 local time to 1530.
"We need to ensure all of our partners are comfortable with this and we're working through that process now."
The new time slot means the Melbourne race will start at 4.30am in the UK rather than the usual 3am.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2008 Formula One calendar released by the FIA on Friday:
March 16 Australia (Melbourne) March 23 Malaysia (Sepang) April 6 Bahrain (Sakhir) April 27 Spain (Barcelona) May 11 Turkey (Istanbul) May 25 Monaco June 8 Canada* June 22 France July 6 Britain (Silverstone) July 20 Germany (Hockenheim) Aug 3 Hungary (Hungaroring) Aug 24 Europe (Valencia)** Sep 7 Italy (Monza) Sep 14 Belgium (Spa-Francorchamps) Sep 28 Singapore** Oct 12 China (Shanghai) Oct 19 Japan (Fuji) Nov 2 Brazil (Interlagos)

I just don't like Lewis, something about him just annoys me. I don't watch F1 much these days, back in the day I used to wake up at 7 a.m. or 8 a.m. to watch the races here in Canada. I do check the results though, my favourite used to be Schumacher. Now I don't really have a favourite, but it would be nice to see him win 3 Championships in a row.

LEWIS HAMILTON was involved in a foul-mouthed bust-up with McLaren boss Ron Dennis after his bid for pole was sabotaged in Hungary yesterday. Hamilton was fuming after missing his final qualifying lap when team-mate Fernando Alonso delayed his exit from the pits.
The 22-year-old Brit then swore at Dennis over the team radio, blasting: "Don't ever f****** do that to me again." Dennis hit back, blasting: "Don't ever f****** speak to me like that."
But Hamilton responded: "Go f****** swivel."
The row came after Hamilton had to settle for second on the grid for today's race.
Hamilton was livid as he was forced to wait behind Alonso in the pits. The Spaniard had been cleared to leave by the team but stayed rooted to the spot for a vital 10 SECONDS.
It appeared his PHYSIO Fabrizio Borra ordered him to stay put, making sure Hamilton would not have enough time for one more lap.
It meant Hamilton was forced to wait before getting his final set of tyres and the delay meant he missed the cut-off point to start his final flying lap.
Dennis said: "I was quite firm on the radio and Lewis was reasonably firm back. But to give the detail of the language would serve no function."
The duo also exchanged words after qualifying before Hamilton angrily pulled away from the McLaren chief. Alonso took a crucial pole position — on a track where overtaking is notoriously difficult — by just 0.107 secs.
NOTW ________________________________________________ Alonso is a cheater he knows Hamilton doing good and he cannot accept this.

McLaren are an absolute embarrassment, they've given F1 a bad name yet again.

Today 's race was very boring. Hungaroring is a very bad track for F1. There's no place to overtaking and there is often no emotions. One year ago, when Jenson Button won this GP, it was amazing race in rain. And today... No comments. Terrible atmosphere in FIA, stupid decisions, difficult McLaren situation, everything's going bad. I wish that next race will be better and it should be better. Hungarian GP was the most boring race in last years...

I used to enjoy formula 1 in my younger days but just can't get into it anymore.
Drivers used to have personalities but now it's just like they are all robots.
