Think the match was much closer than the scoreline. A lot of Raonic is his serve and one of Murray's best assets his his service return so it suited Murray. Raonic just came up short in each set.

He didn't really put a lot of pressure on Murray though and he strgguled when Murray raised the tempo in the tie breaks.

Fair play to Murray, he was superb all tournament. Deserved winner.
Going to be very interesting over the next 18 months if having Lendl back gets him over the Djokovic mental block. Federer and Nadal are pretty much done, still very good players but I can't see either of them beating Novak or Murray over 5 sets anymore. And no one else looks to be in their class, so I'd imagine they'll be meeting in another 3 or 4 finals.
Djokovic is the better player, but not by much, a lot of it is mental. If Lendl sorts that out then Murray could end up with 7 or so grand slams, which is a fantastic achievement.

Murray would have beaten anybody this year, even Djokovic. Only dropped 2 sets in the entire tournament.
Fair play to the lad.

Andy Murray stalker horror: 'I woke up and she was on my bed, stroking my arm' Andy Murray has spoken up about a stalker who appears to have got herself a series of hotel jobs in order to follow him around the tennis circuit. By Toby Keel 5 hours ago Eurosport
The Scot won the Wimbledon and Olympic titles this year, but it seems that he's had one or two worse moments as well, and not only in his defeats in the Australian and French Open finals. Losing to Novak Djokovic is something he's well used-to, of course - but being targeted by a stalker is something much scarier. "At one of the tournaments that I played, there was maid in the hotel," the world number two revealed when asked about his most extreme fans during the China Open in Beijing. "I had the do not disturb sign up on the door and she came in and sat on my bed and started stroking my arm at about 7 in the morning when I was still sleeping. "She then turned up at a couple more tournaments in the hotels that I was playing at in Rotterdam and Barcelona. "I don’t know if that is a fan thing but that was a bit extreme.” That's the story you told Kim, eh Andy? And speaking of Mrs Murray, the Scot name-checked his wife when asked who he thought was the most gorgeous woman in the world - before adding that Halle Berry is second on his list. He also revealed his biggest extravagances, prompting him to mention his flat in London - though investing in property in the British capital isn't exactly a way to throw away cash. He did, however, reveal that he bought himself a Range Rover when he first tasted success - despite the fact that he couldn't even drive. "My girlfriend drove it for me and for herself.” Read the original article on Eurosport: Andy Murray reveals stalker: 'I woke up and she was on my bed, stroking my arm' uk.sports.yahoo.com/news/esp-tennis-andy-murray-reveals-stalker-woke-bed-stroking-093014252--ten.html

Kyrgios behaving like a twat again. Practically threw a match Yesterday and was arguing with a fan who told him to show some respect for people who had paid to watch. The guy's an absolute embarrassment, about time he was dealt with more severely.
As far as I'm concerned he was a non trier in that match and if that happened in most other sports there'd be serious repercussions.

Good. Someone needs to get hold of him before his career ends up going down the shitter. He's a talent but we all know talent isn't the only thing you need in sport.
Nobody is asking him to be squeaky clean but there's a difference between someone like Murray who gets a bit agitated and argues with the umpire and some little runt telling fans he doesn't owe them anything and visibly throwing a match. He has fuck all respect for anyone.
Hopefully this suspension is the kick up the arse he needs.

Finished. Cracking match and I'm delighted for Murray. Must admit I feared he'd lose that #1 spot almost as quickly as he'd gained it but he was great tonight.
GOAT in terms of British sport, no doubt.

Different class tonight. Greatest of any British sportsperson ever is a bit of a statement though.

Suppose it's a matter of opinion and I also guess it depends which sports you enjoy more than others but I'd personally put him there.
Growing up watching Tim Henman fail at Wimbledon every year and be ridiculed for it, I never thought I'd see a British tennis player who'd win 3 Grand Slams, including 2 Wimbledons, 2 Olympic golds, a Davis Cup and be World Number One. As well as getting to multiple other finals.
