Absolutely brilliant 6 months from Murray. Greatest male player Britain has even produced, no question. Fred Perry's achievements were wonderful but Murray has stood alone, in an era of 3 players who will go down as 3 of the greatest ever, and has still managed to become world number 1, 3 time Grand Slam champion, double Olympic gold medallist.
Outstanding stuff.
2017 should be really interesting, can Murray dominate all year long the way Fed, Nadal and Novak have in previous years?
Fed is all but gone now, Nadal looks to have followed, but Novak will be massively motivated to get back to the top of the rankings. I don't really see anyone getting close to those two consistently. Huge 12 months ahead.

Different class tonight. Greatest of any British sportsperson ever is a bit of a statement though. I struggle to think of many British sport stars that have maintained such a high level for as long as Murray has in the last 30 years. 2017 could be an epic year for him.

I agree there's not many, but there are a few.
Phil Taylor.
I know darts doesn't get the attention of higher profile sports, and isn't even seen as a "sport" by some, but it still takes incredible dedication to remain at the top. What Taylor has achieved is nothing short of miraculous.
MVG has had to take darts to a level not seen before (hitting 115+ averages is fucking ridiculous) to overtake him, and the fact at 57 he's still in the worlds top 4 and winning the odd tournament is testament to a fantastic, dedicated sportsman.
Ryan Giggs.
It's easier in a team sport in one way, you can rely on team mates to keep you going, but at the same time if you're not performing you end up dropped and sold off/released. If Murray underperforms he can keep playing, no one can tell him to stop. In a team game you have a manager who makes those decisions. Even though Giggs should have called it a day a couple of years earlier than he did, but he was still putting in some very good performances 20 years after first coming as a 17 year old. One look at Rooney tells you how hard it is to keep that level up.
Steve Redgrave and Chris Hoy.
Don't really have to say why.

Murray through to the next round with ease this morning. Dan Evans playing some quality tennis right now as well, 2 sets up against Tomic after knocking out Cilic in the last round.

Murray likely won't get a better chance with Djoker out.

Federer was sublime yesterday against Berdych. Damn, how I'd love for him to win one more Grand Slam title before retirement.

Nearly came in here after Novak got knocked out to say 'Mon the Fed! - didn't want to offend the Murray Mounders though. Just because the fucker is British apparently I have to support him every time?
