Maybe the ball should have knocked some of the arrogance out of him......oh well we can all live in hope! There's nothing wrong with arrogance in sport as long as you can back it up with results. Cantona was a prime example of this. I'm not a massive cricket fan but I think that Pietersens batting figures put him up with the best batsmen in the world right now. I see that you're from Capetown, I can understand why he's not too popular over there though!

Fair play to him, he is an awesome cricketer and it sucks that he left to play for England. The only problem i have with him is his shit talking of his own country. South Africa went thru hell to get to where it is today and it is amazing that power changed hands with out a civil war but then you get assholes like Pietersen who cant accept the new govt, and constantly bad mouths SA to the press. Hell he is so good that the transformation process would not have affected him that much and he would have walked into the team. Its strange that when old wrongs are tried to be righted you get the people that benefited in the past complaining. Thats what pisses every body off about this guy. :'(sad really

So he ended up leaving for UK and applying for citizenship there after playing a few years as well as because of his English mother. Its just sad that such a system back home which tries to allow all racial groups to take part end up discriminating against talented players who cant overcome the filled quotas. I can understand his frustration.

I can understand his frustration. I acknowledge your point but i have to counter that if you look at the current make up of the SA cricet starting you will observe that the amount of so called quota players is very small. I mean the only so called quota player in the top 5 batting line up is Ashwell Prince. He has done pretty well in the tests so far but granted KP is better than him. KP would of had to go up against proven batters like Kallis and Gibbs. for a no 3/4 spot. I still believe he left to soon and was not willing to fight for his place. Big loss to SA cricket but a bigger loss to his rep. in his home country even if he profeses he doesnt care.
