The personal preference of some people on this forum may be towards the men's game. You may feel the men's game is more entertaining. But on a global scale, that is not reflected. If both men and the women are drawing in similar numbers, creating similar excitement, getting similar amounts of people interested in the sport, then why should this not be reflected in their pay packet? Its not only preference its also proved that in some sports women are better than men and viceversa! if they both training at the same level and entertain people at the same level fine lets pay them in a equal way but it doesn't happen so many the time. Tell me just one sport where women are pay more than men! its pretty hard to find and its not nice cos im sure women probably put more of themself in an emotionally way. Just look at Gymnastic! women use to suffer of anorexia cos coaches say u need to be thin and light! but maybe they're not pay as much as men! its all about the sport u do and the kind of entertaing u offer i would never go to watch a football match played by women cos im sure it would not be same, same for tennis there are more men who offer beautiful games to watch than women playing more stets so why they should be pay as men? You haven't really responded to anything I said. The point I was making is that globally, the women's game is deemed AS entertaining or MORE entertaining than the men's game, which I believe should be reflected in how they are paid. That's how all other sports work, why should it be different for tennis? Football brings in more spectators and sponsorships than rugby, so football players are paid more. Women's tennis brings in as many/more spectators and more sponsorships than men's tennis...so why is it different? Nobody is debating that men have to play more sets (which is not a choice of the women), and I'm not even saying I prefer to watch women's tennis, I just think it's time we got out of the dark ages. The women's game is extremely popular globally, and the fact that more people, in the US and the UK would rather watch Williams vs Davenport over Federer vs Roddick is testament to that.

Sure they bring spectators and sponsorships and i know its not a wmoen's choice play less games than men im not saying they should not be paid equally but at the moment they are paid for the type of entertaing they're offering which is totally different by the one men use to offer. Of course women must to be paid equally im not against it thats why i believe its time for Atp and Wta to make things the same for everyone.

i think men should be payed more, its just the way of life, and it is good for me as i am a man... haha i honestly cant see a big difference about this, yes at times you can see some difference in men and women paychecks but havent anyone even thought about that even women have more pay than some men? dont you get it...its simple...this is not communism!... It is easy not to see this difference as a big deal being a man, as you noted. But statistics show this discrepancy is not JUST in sport. It spans across all industries. Men get paid more than women for doing the same job with the same qualifications - and that is not down to communism, it's down to gender discrimination. No one is demanding everyone be given the same regardless of background, job, gender. That would border on your communism comment. However, when gender becomes the deciding factor in pay difference between two groups, that is unfounded discrimination. I have experienced it in the corporate world and I will say first hand it's bullshit that shouldn't be tolerated. So in that regard, good for Miss Williams for standing up and shouting about it. It's sad that it's even still an issue.
