I'm more concerned with what's going to happen off the pitch than on it, hopefully it'll go relatively better than last time. On the field, I think we're more than capable of getting a result. The team I'd chose: And if the players who were said to be injured are out then I'd play this team: Hopefully we'll score a goal or two, and win this away leg.

Terry still is though.

Pooja - They had a guy on about an hour ago from Italy saying that Totti is definitely out! Well i hope that's the case but personally i wouldn't be surprised at all if Totti starts the game, we hear this sort of thing all the time....although in saying that, if Totti is genuinely ruled out it's a major boost for us. I fancy us to shade this first leg 2-1, and here's my fifty pence worth as regards the starting line-up... VDS Brown- Ferdinand- Vidic- Evra Ronaldo- Carrick- Hargreaves- Nani Anderson Rooney

Nani doesn't travel with the squad while Silvest is a surprise inclusion , seems like Pat is likely to miss out .

Its a shame about Nani, we might have needed his pace later on in the game. Good news about VDS and the rest though.

First things first, I hope our fans get there and back safe without any incident so stay safe. I can see Fergie going 4-5-1 as thats his normal formation when we play away in the Champions league. Its frustrating, but it did the trick last season so lets see whats what. Ill go for either a 1-1 or a 2-1 defeat. Without Totti, I doubt that Roma will cause many problems, but it will still be a tough game with a Roma team looking for revenge. EVDS Brown - Rio - Vidic - Evra Hargreaves Scholes - Anderson Ronaldo - Rooney Tevez

Chris83 - I think thats pretty close to the team that Fergie will go for but i wouldnt be surprised to see Giggs start ahead of Tevez with Tevez coming on if we need a goal.

With or without Totti Roma will be a threat. Nani and Saha (surprise surprise) have not traveled with the squad. I think if there are no players carrying knocks, then SAF will probably go with the team that started against Villa; perhaps with Hargreaves replacing Anderson. Carrick has been great recently, and his incisive passing will be key against the Romans. The inclusion of Silvestre is interesting; apparently he has been impressive at left back for the reserves in recent weeks. Therefore, obvious cover for Evra - frog for a frog! On current form we should not fear Roma, and I expect us to score tomorrow. It just depends what happens the other end. I'll go for a stressful, nail-biting, squeaky bum 2-2 draw!

Well I was unsure of Giggsy or Tevez, but im not sure Giggsy is at 100%. He does have the experience though, but Tevez gets about. Totti has now been officially ruled out which is a boost. From BBC: Roma skipper Francesco Totti has been ruled out of Tuesday's Champions League quarter-final first leg after suffering a thigh injury on Saturday.
Totti, Roma's top scorer with 14 goals, will be replaced by Mirko Vucinic.
Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar looks set to return to the side after missing the 4-0 win over Aston Villa with a groin injury.
Mikael Silvestre has also been included after overcoming a knee ligament injury, but Nani has a thigh strain.

Chris83 - To be honest im not sure about Giggs' fitness either, he left the pitch and went straight down the tunnel leaving us with 10 men for the last few minutes against Villa so there must have been something wrong. I just get the impression that when Fergie wants to play it tight away from home in europe he doesnt think Wazza and Tevez is the way to go. I might be wrong but if Giggs doesnt make it i wouldnt be surprised if he added Carrick to your team (instead of Tevez) and packed the midfield with Ando and Scholesy being free to bomb forward when the situation arises and Ando starting more towards the left.

Well, i haven't heard anything about Giggs being ruled out of this game so i'm assuming that he will be a direct replacement for Nani.
With Hargreaves holding in midfield alongside Scholes, Ronaldo on the right and Giggs coming in on the left, Fergie and Querioz may ask Anderson to play just behind Rooney when we're counter-attacking.
My revised guess at the team: VDS Brown- Ferdinand- Vidic- Evra Ronaldo- Hargreaves- Scholes- Giggs Anderson Rooney
