Grand National time people. Gutted cos id normally be going this year, but can't due to money issues. Least I won't be going round Liverpool again which is a pretty good night, but there are some horrible characters around Scouseville. Anyway, here are the current odds for anyone interested

Im personally gonna go for Comply or Die and maybe put a couple of quid on Simon. Ill also put a few each way bets on a couple of horses priced above 25-1.

Is there some kind of fun sweepsteak thing we can do which involves everyone? Might be good for a laugh if anyone's up for it.

I have a shortlist of 10 now, any 2 from Chelsea Harbour,point barrow,sir rembrandt,cornish rebel,,cloudy lane,naunton brook,parsons legacy,comply or die,black apalachi and homer wells


I make 3 bets every year, paid for by my Dad and I already have D'Argent and any other 2.


We always do a family sweepstake between the five of us for a laugh, so if anyone on the forum wanted to I'm up for it.

I do think that betting on the Grand National is great fun, but everybody knows that this race is just a lottery. Any nag can come home first, the 500/1 outsider has as much chance as the 5/1 favourite. Anything can happen, most of the favourites could be gone at the first.

It's had it's fair share of incident, i remember in particular the IRA bomb threat that stopped the race. Also, i can recall the tape getting wrapped around a jockey's neck, one year.

I get the family to choose a horse for an each-way bet; my 4-year old son won £50 last year! I obviously invested the money in a beer fund!!

Any good each-way bets guys; 25-1 or thereabouts?

I have backed Dun Doire as my main e/w, but placed a couple of quid on Black Apalachi and knowhere. They certainly won't win, but with the national they could certainly be placed.

Other good e/w bets are: Hedgehunter (getting older, but still a good horse), Point Barrow (also getting older, but has a chance), Mr Pointment (but not used to running these distances) and King Johns castle (who I have actually backed to win).

Anyone interested in this sweepstake, just say on here and I will put names in a hat personally. I won't do the sweepstake as I am already keeping an eye on the betting side. If you're interested let me know!!
