Van der Sar
Hargreaves - Brown - Pique - O'Shea
Ronaldo - Carrick - Anderson - Evra
Tevez - Rooney As we're going to be without Ferdinand and Vidic, I hope to see Brown move in to the centre alongside Pique. Hargreaves has had plenty of experience playing RB for Bayern so he can slot in there quite comfortably. Evra played on the left wing for Monaco, so no doubts he can be pushed forward and play well. I wouldn't risk Nani and Scholes. Massive game on Sunday and we need them fit for the Arsenal game. I'd bring Giggs on, but only if we've cemented our place in the semis. If we still need to find something, bring on Park instead.

The day that SAF uses 4-4-2 in Europe, I will ejaculate with joy.

i really dont think o'shea should start the game. our defence always looks shaky when he is one of the full back positions and to play o'shea and pique in the middle would be suicidal as they have never played with each in those positions... Hargreaves Pique Brown Evra I do agree with you that O'Shea probably shouldn't start the game, but the fact that Rio and Vidic are out i think that Ferguson will keep him at centre-half. In fairness to O'Shea, you've got to remember that he's being played out of position due to injuries, he's a full-back not a centre half. Who knows if playing Pique and Sheasy together would be neccessarily 'suicidal', but we haven't got much choice. I don't think Hargreaves will play full back, i'm expecting: Brown- O'Shea- Pique- Evra.

I agree with your selection but think Brown will start in the middle with Pique. O'Shea was poor on Sunday but he will be very much aware of this. Who knows, Pique might get another goal. You don't play well defensively in Spain (land of the crumbling defence) for a season by accident.

Started as 4-3-3 in Rome but switched to.......(drum role ) 4-4-2 (and scored instantly) Benfica at OT started 4-3-3 went down by a goal switched to 4-4-2 and beat them into the ground. We must play the 4-4-2 at home. It's what United do. Looking forward to this. depth of squad will be vital.

I *think* I just heard Sky say that Rooney didn't train today either. What's going on?

I refuse to believe that Saha missed training again! At least he can give Vida and Rio advice on what to do in their spare time!! The loss of both Rio and Vida is a blow, but it is an opportunity for Brown and Pique to show their worth. I expect Hargreaves to fill-in at right back as O'Shea has not impressed recently. Hopefully, Nani will return for the game vs Le Arse and produce a similar performance to the 4-0 Cup humiliation.

I certainly hope so, and it's not that I am so philosophically opposed to 4-5-1 or 4-3-3 but we're a team who work brilliantly with a 4-4-2 formation. Defensively we've been strong so I don't think there's a need to stuff the midfield. I'm sure it reverts to a 4-4-2 among the players because it's what they know and excel at.

Manutd.com:
"Rio's scan was clear and we hope to have him on Wednesday," revealed the United boss. ______________________________________ Fantastic news ;D what a relief.
Also:
Gary Neville and Mikael Silvestre are also in the squad and Sir Alex confirmed one of the duo may even start the game.

Its good news but id prefer to leave him on the bench and save him for the Arsenal game. Last thing we want is for him to make it worse. Remember Middlesbrough at home last season??? Rio's injury cost us a goal.

I think Nev will definitely be involved at some stage if the game is going well, unfortunately it's too big for him to start, but perhaps he could start the Arsenal game if he gets some time here. What so Arsenal isn't a big game?
