Apart from missing one header I thought Pique did very well too. I'd be happy for him to stay in there until Vidic gets back. Good, solid performance by a really maturing team. Hopefully We'll see that from Hargreaves every game now unti lthe end of the season. Hargreaves as a right sided midfielder? Could work. His crossing is certainly good enough and he clearly has the engine for it.

Hargreaves, Tevez and Park were AWESOME. Credit to Silvestre too; first game back, and he puts in a solid showing. I agree, Park was excellent, Ji-Sung's attitude was first-class. Similarly Hargreaves, his best game in a United shirt since we signed him. What can you say about Tevez? Absolute world-class header to score the winner. Pique and Silvestre did well, and another good game from Wes. We dominated the first-half hour or so but just couldn't make the breakthrough, Roma had plenty of the ball and some half-chances but their finishing was dreadful. Absolute shocker of a decision from the ref for Roma's penalty. Brown clearly wins the ball with a well timed tackle, and Mancini deliberately kicks into Wes and basically cheats. Got what they deserved by missing the penalty. I'm chuffed we're through to the Semi's. ;D

Heard on the radio that Ferdinand had 3 stitches at half time - in his OTHER foot!
Don't know if it's true!

Rio looked comfortable in the second half. I don't think we should have any worries about his fitness for Sunday then. Pique looked good again though. And yeah. Silvestre, Park, Hargreaves, Tevez, Carrick all had really good games.
Fantastic to see Gary Neville back.
Good win. Can't wait for the Barcelona game. I think we'll win 4-0 at home against them too.

Reds boss Sir Alex can’t wait to face Barcelona in the Champions League semi-final.
The Catalans beat Schalke 2-0 on aggregate to progress, but will be without skipper Carlos Puyol for the first-leg tie at the Nou Camp on 22 April.
“Puyol’s a very good player, so that’s interesting,” Sir Alex told Sky Sports.
“We have the opportunity now to achieve something really special. We want to go to Barcelona and show we’re a good team.
“Barcelona are a wonderful club but we can’t go there and be negative. We have to go there and be really positive. If we do that then we’ve got a chance.”
The United manager surprised everyone with his starting line-up against AS Roma, leaving Wayne Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo and Paul Scholes on the bench.
But Sir Alex defended his decision and maintained his faith was repaid by those in the starting XI.
“We have Arsenal on Sunday to think about and you have to look at the big picture at times,” Sir Alex told MUTV.
“We were going into a game at Old Trafford with a two goal lead and I have to trust the players in that situation.
“I keep saying it’s the best squad I’ve ever had so if that’s the case then why shouldn’t I play them? I took out Scholes, Rooney and Ronaldo but Ji-sung Park, Carlos Tevez and Owen Hargreaves were our three best players.”

The good thing about tonight was the attitude of the players that Ferguson drafted in for the game. Park, Hargreaves, Pique, Anderson and Silvestre all did well, i think what happens is that the squad players want to do well to impress the manager, as there's competition for places.
I was stratching my head when i saw the team, but i can see what Fergie was thinking.

Good atmosphere there tonight, the Roma lot had nothing to offer, which was disappointing considering how many seats they took up.
Another solid performance from United, with Rooney, Ronaldo, Evra and Scholes all rested for Sunday.
Thought Hargreaves, Park, Anderson and Carrick all played brilliantly. Giggsy played through a couple of great balls, but he's still looking a mile off the mark. Tevez worked his bollocks off. Our defence was surprisingly solid, despite the inclusion of Silvestre and Pique. Glad to see Rio get through 90 mins as well. Lovely gesture handing over the armband to Nev - great to see him back, great reception. And ooh ahh was there. Result.
That penalty, fuck me, what a joke. I haven't seen a replay yet but it was down at our end so I had a pretty good view. Looked like a cracking challenge from Wesley. Fortunately it didn't cost us, but I couldn't fucking BELIEVE it when he pointed to the spot!
3-0 on agg is a good result for the quarters, bring on Barca! Can't wait.

Good atmosphere there tonight, the Roma lot had nothing to offer, which was disappointing considering how many seats they took up. Scott, i was watching the game on RTE over here, and they were saying that the Roma fans were placed in one of the top tiers of the stadium, and that United fans were below them? Was that true? Seems a bit dangerous and daft to me?

I class United games as "exciting" for two reasons - when we put a team to the sword and destroy them and when it's nervy (like a close, end -to-end encounter that's nail biting stuff). I can't say I always really enjoy the nervy games (until it's over, if we get a result!) but I certainly did today - what a cracker!! (well worth getting up at 4.30 for!)
An overall great performance (although we could have rued those early missed chnaces had the penalty gone in).
Each and every one of the players deserves credit for getting stuck in and showing a dogged determination to win every ball.
Barcelona won't be looking forward to meeting us!

Pretty good game. I was right near the Roma fans (east stand, tier 2), and to there credit, they kept singing. It was great when they missed the penalty. We all went crazy! Great to see Gaz back in the side too. Did ok. Loved it when Rio chucked him in the captains armband. We were also singing 'give it to Gary' when we were passing the ball around which was good.
As for the game itself, it went ok. Dodgy penalty, but I think it was more of a dive than a bad tackle and although Roma threatened a little in the first 20mins of the second half, they didn't do much. Even if they did score I don't think that we would have fucked up. Defence played well enough and a confident performance from Pique. Lets hope he keeps it up on Sunday if required. Giggsy was better and maybe Tevez tried a bit too hard at times. Anderson got about as did Park. Man of the match for me was Owen Hargreaves who was brilliant. Bombing about everywhere and I don't think he stopped. Bring on Barca!!!!
It was weird at half time because they announced that Eric Cantona was there just before the players came out so I didn't even see him.

Neville back. Silvestre back and on form. Ferdinand completed 90 minutes. Another clean sheet. A comfortable 1-0 win. Got through without using Rooney from the start and keeping Ronaldo and Scholes on the bench. Giggsy looked good, Hargreaves was excellent as was Park. Another Tevez goal. United through to set up a semi final tie with Barcelona. But most satisfactory from the game, our crowd was FUCKIN' excellent!

im very happy with the performances by Park Piquè and also Silvestre (his first fully 90 mins in a such big occasion) they all displayed a gr8 game showing every player could be a key player in this team some are first team players but the ones who sat on the bench are amazing cos its not easy spend more than 38 games watching ur team mates playing and when its ur turn u might be scared to miss something, but they show tonight they are gr8 players not only "reserves" my fav united player? THE WHOLE TEAM
