There's nowhere near enough pressure on Chelsea as there is for us. They haven't been top all season and were never favourites. They lost their manager, got a dodgy one in and it was us and Arse to fight it out. I was never expected victory today, but went to the game with slight belief. Fergie did nothing wrong and a lot of people in this topic are talking shite and don't know a lot about United or even football. We were a shambles in the first 45 and there's no excuses for that, but Fergie knows what he's doing and we turned it around in the second half and that was because of Fergie. People are moaning about taking Anderson off, but he was injured. O'Shea was there to fill in. Hargreaves didn't swap positions because he was doing well at RB. Sorry mate but i need to disagree with you there. Fergie HAS got it wrong in the last two games - weird formations and shit team selections. If its a title decider (which it pretty much was yesterday) you play the best team you have at you're disposal and we didn't -thats a fact. questioning peoples love for the club is a bit harsh also but thats why you've got that title in your sig isnt it? on the injury side of things i didnt realise that Anderson was injured and i was one of the people bemoaning his going off. Hopefully vida will look even scaryer now with a tooth missing! Also - VDS need to have a few extra sessions on kicking -his has been dreadful over the last few games, he's turning into a blunder Barthez in that respect.

It looks to me that Fergie is hedging his bets. He is trying to win both competitions by resting players as much as he can. He threw the dice against Chelsea with a 'partial best 11' and it didn't pay off. It has worked at least once already this season though.
I hope he plays our best 11 against Barcelona, I hope they will all be fit.

I guess after that yesterday - it will be the best 11 for the next 4 games...

Well said Stewart 1971.
Its still our to lose, and after the last 2 games you could say we might!
I imagine that Chelsea will be feeling the pressure too (no matter what Terry said on Sky this AM) they must win and hope that we slip up - they have arguably the worse run in - against 2 teams who are playing well at the mo - The Toon and Bolton - there wont be any favours from them.
I personally don't think that we will be level on points at the end and the goal difference is in the bank.
I reckon there will be another twist yet, come the last day the prem wil be ours and then later so will the C/L.
And keep the faith & After all we owe West Ham a few don't we!
Now I feel much better! roll on Tues - lets rock!

I guess after that yesterday - it will be the best 11 for the next 4 games... Whatever that might be?! Our team has gone completely off the boil in recent weeks; since defeating Villa at OT I think. The Liverpool win aside, we have struggled to put passes together and retain the ball. The win against Arsenal recently was fortuitous. It is clear to me that for their work ethic Anderson and Hargreaves should certainly play in the remaining 4 games. However, SAF will most likely tinker with the side bringing in the likes of Fletcher, Pique, O'Shea, Silvestre, Park and possibly the Neviller. Obviously, assuming we beat Barca, SAF might feel that the fringe players should be good enough to beat West Ham and Wigan; thus allowing players such as Rooney, Giggs, Scholes, Evra, Rio, Ronaldo to be rested for the Champs League Final. We do effectively have a fully fit squad now, with the obvious exception of SAHA! After Evra's post match exploits yesterday, he will probably be banned or sent to Siberia; I thought Silvestre filled in quite well. It is critical that Vida returns to the defence so that Hargo can resume his midfield duties; this will be key against Barca. Champions League aside, if we do not beat West Ham at OT and Wigan away, then we will most likely hand the title on a golden platter to those chav bastards. The Manager, Coaching Staff, and Players will have to take a detailed look at themselves if that happens, because I am sure there will be many United fans calling for changes and questioning the tactical, motivational, and coaching skills of the most senior staff and players.

Jak, that comment is pure bollocks, I am angry about his formations, but FFS, I think he's still the manager for us until HE wants to retire, not you want him to be sacked, formation was shit but the team was shite as well for the majority.

Would I rather be in Chelsea's position this morning? No way. We're still top of the league and it's still ours to lose. Do I feel sick with frustration? Yes.
What's with resting Ronaldo? Does Ronaldo look any more tired to you now than he did at the start of the season? Fergie felt like he put out a team strong enough to get a result yesterday, and if not for an 86th min penalty, we would have done. But why does Ronaldo need to be rested when he's showing no signs of fatigue? To protect him against injury before Tues? I don't know. But Ronaldo can easily play 3 games in a week and play with as much energy in the first as he does in the third.
If we'd gone 2-0 down and got a consolation goal at the end, I'd be very worried now. But seeing how much that result hurt and angered our players, I think we will absolutely murder West Ham next weekend. To lose in the fashion that we did yesterday is all the inspiration we need to get a result, if the title isn't a big enough incentive!

Right so I thought I'd leave it till today to post, thought maybe I'd calmed down by today, guess I haven't. We still have the advantage, even if it might just be goal difference, but we're going to have to win our next two matches to do it. Do I think we are capable of doing that? without a doubt. Do I think we're going to do that... I guess that remains to be seen but I am not going to lose faith in us winning the premiership, we're not trailing by points it's still very much ours to win. It's also very much ours to lose, and that is the only way Chelsea are going to win it, if we lose it.
I was fucked off yesterday, spent an hour and a half on the phone to a mate after the match whinging and talking about football in general. I wasn't fucked off because we lost, or I was, but that wasn't the main reason. The main reason was that for a majority of yesterday, especially the first 45 minutes, I watched a team with no desire to win. That broke my heart. I am never going to stop being passionate about my team, I'll love them to death, but I wish that every player could show that same amount of passion as the fans do, because to be perfectly honest, the amount of money they get paid alone should fucking ensure it.
One upside to yesterday is I thought Giggsy did well. Nani was shit. We should have played our strongest side, and I know Sir Alex wants to win the Champions league, but I don't care, he SHOULD have picked the strongest side available, and he SHOULD have told them to go out and PLAY TO WIN, not play to draw. When we equalized and O'shea came one, we were asking for trouble. Despite the match being settled by a penalty that I didn't actually think was a valid penalty, and it being at possibly the toughest away ground in England, we should have gone out there and we should have won the match because we wanted it. When it comes down to it, Chelsea just wanted it that much more.
Sir Alex shouldn't go based on yesterday, if he was at any other team and he went on to lose the league then he would get the sack, but I hope, I really sincerely hope, we never turn into that sort of a side. Sir Alex knew what he was doing, he knew he picked a weakened side, and he knew doing that would be the best way of ensuring a full strenght squad against Barcelona. Does that excuse his selection? against a lesser side, yeah sure, against the team that is chasing us for the title, no it doesn't. It seems to me, that to many United fans they feel the Premiership should be our priority, and it is always going to be the trophy I want us the win the most, but Sir Alex is desperate to win in Europe, and I think he feels this might be his last chance to do it again. He made a mistake yesterday, and I'm fucked off about the team selection, more so about the change to even deeper defensive tactics, HOWEVER he couldn't have known that we'd concede a penalty, which we shouldn't have, and that's how Chelsea got their win. they fought for it, and with a bit a luck at the end they got it. Fergie still needs to take blame, and so does the players who didn't perform, but that's football. It's going to be more nervy like this, it's going to be more stressful, but if we can get over it and go into the Barca game, the West Ham game and the Wigan game and play how we CAN play, then we will reach the final and we will win the premiership, and we'll deserve it. If we fuck if up, then we haven't got anyone to blame but ourselves.

perhaps in a weird twisted way fergie knows 100% what hes doing. Perhaps playing a weakened side means that he has confidence in whomever he decides to allow to wear the shirt. it also could mean that;
1) hes saying to the other teams - i dont care what you're reputation is, ill play the team i want to with the players i trust and lets face it - he trusts the players we have or they would be out the door faster than you can say "drogba likes the top diving board at the pool" 2) hes saying to the players that he doesnt play / puts on the bench - if you dont give 100% for me then i can play someone in youre possition.
yesterday he took the above gambles and they didnt pay off - another day they might and we would be so extatic we'd all have hard-ons (even the girls :-p )
would we like a simple, easy title run? would we like a simple, easy CL run? No - everyone loves the drama and we're getting more drama this season than an episode of eastenders.
In Fergie we trust - In United we Beleive!
[edit] i think its time for the fans who truely love United to stand up and be counted ... there are lots and lots of us on this forum. The atmosphere in OT against Barca is going to be electric... i hope and pray that "we will never die" never stops being sang from thte first to the last whistle regardless of the result [/edit]

Only a little bit mind you
