I was talking to a few people in my local tonight, and they strongly disagreed with being a donor. I couldnt really understand it. One lady said that when she's dying, she wouldnt want parts from anyone else, and so based on that, wasnt prepared to give up anything of hers to people who needed it.
Is this a common belief? I figured everyone was prepared to be a donor in this day an age!

If it was a family member then MAYBE and I wouldn't want smeone elses organ in me imagine the first time you coughed up flem after a lung transplant....

They can have whatever they want from my body when i die. I lost a patient during my nurse training while she was waiting for a heart transplant. I think it'd be cool that the last thing i ever do could be to save people's lives! I can understand some people are a bit weird about it, it seems a bit scary.

I'm a donor too because if my organs can help someone who needs it why wouldn't I want to help? Especially since I won't be needing them anymore!

I'll certainly be a donor. Although really, I'd much prefer my organs (they're probably not in good shape anyways) to go to someone who really needs/deserves it. I don't want some smoker having my lungs only for them to ruin mine aswell.

Good point. I dont think transplants should be given to people who will destroy them. I mean i loved george best as much as the next person, but the liver he got could have been used to save the life of someone who wouldnt drink it to destruction like he did his own.

Oh I don’t know. What if, I came back alive? I’d need them. (I watch too many movies) Ha.
On a more serious note, the more I think about it the more I’m swayed to being a donor. I know I won’t need them when I’m gone, but I take very good care of myself, I’ve never tried smoking, I don’t drink heavily, I don’t do drugs, I keep in shape and eat healthily. I’d hate passing away knowing someone could mistreat my belongings, lol.
