United will host Middlesbrough at Old Trafford in the Third Round of the Carling Cup.
The tie will take place in the week commencing 22 September, 2008.
The clubs have met six times before in the League Cup, with United triumphing three times and two matches ending in draws. Boro's sole win arrived at Old Trafford in October 1973.
The last time the sides met in the competition was at the semi-final stage in 1992. The teams played out a 0-0 draw at Ayresome Park before United won the second leg 2-1 at Old Trafford.
Elsewhere, Portsmouth will host Chelsea, Crewe Alexandra face a trip to Liverpool and Swansea meet Cardiff in an all-Welsh tie.
Ticket news for Middlesbrough's visit to Old Trafford will be published as soon as it's confirmed at www.manutd.com

This will give us a chance to see the Da Silva brothers in more action.

Fergie will adopt his usual tactic for this competition and put out the fringe players and reserves. This game will be a good opportunity for the likes of Foster, Hargreaves and Carrick to work on match fitness. Also an opportunity for the Da Silva's and Possebon to show off their silky samba skills.
Should be a good attacking game as 'Boro are very attack minded these days.

I don't think we will a reserve team , It will be a strong team. Boro over the years has been a difficult place to go although I am glad we don't have to face Coventry though

The truth is, nobody really takes the competition too seriously unless its their only chance of silverwear.
I dont think the extra matches help much when our team is (hopefully) challenging for the Treble.
If only we had done Portsmouth last season, the treble would have been ours, for a second time!!

We will stick out all the reserve players and 1st team injury returnees. I think that with this competition that is the right move. If we find ourselves in the semis with this system then we will turn on the burners and go for it, if not well its only the Carling Cup isnt it!!

I am not sure whether the money has come out for this game yet as they said they were taking payment for the Villareal game as well so I am not too sure, any way of finding out anyone?
Thanks.
Paul.

Depends really i guess. Just keep checking your bank statement. I've already had one lot of £35 taken out. If in doubt ring the ticket office.
