It's fucking appalling. Sad state of affairs when one of the first things I said my mum needed to get my 18 year-old sister, as she's just gone to Manchester Uni this year, was a rape alarm and to make sure she has it on her at all times when out and about. Says it all. Something kind of clicked with me with all this last year, the fact that we're all brought up in a society where we're kind of immune to the fact men rape and murder women on a regular basis. Like, it happens so much that a lot of it doesn't even make the news. Agree. There's been a couple of high profile cases over here recently too, a young girl had performed at a Comedy club (in my local city bar too) and was walking home from the tram when she was attacked and killed; and a young Irish lass was walking home from work when someone out on parole for rape, attacked, raped and killed her. The amount it happens is scary, every week women are killed by men, generally people they know. I'm far from a leftie and hate this bullshit #metoo movement, but what the fuck is wrong with people? We all have mothers, sisters, daughters. I'm old fashioned in that I believe men are here to protect women, that's our job; yes some women can more than look after themselves but most can't. Men are generally bigger, faster, more aggressive and stronger. Sorry if taking it on a tangent but it gets to me, praying on smaller, weaker and more vulnerable people is utterly cowardly and the worst of the worst. The only good thing is the cunt is a rapist and ex-copper. He'll be segregated but his time in jail will be hell.

It is a farce that women are not allowed to carry pepper spray in the UK because imo women should be carrying that or even tasers. Very important means of self protection. Failing that, I believe every woman should go through some form or the other of basic self defense specifically against rape. Rape to me is the second most heinous crime that can be committed by a human being after murder. The justice system treats it far too leniently imo.

Was talking about the pepper spray thing the other day and as much as you'd like to think only women would use it and use it in such circumstances, you just know some cunt blokes will get their hands on it and use it as another means to attack women.
I just think attitudes need to change. Too many men feel they have the right to decide whether a woman should feel safe in a certain situation. I remember myself getting personally offended last year when someone mentioned that men shouldn't even walk too close to a woman in the streets in the evening. I was like " What? Me? I'm of literally no threat to any woman!" But fuck that, you imagine being a woman walking home at night and hearing someone walking in relatively close proximity to you and realising it was some big ass bloke, knowing about the kind of disgusting shit that goes on. Of course you'd be wary at the very least.
Since then, if I'm ever walking the street in the evening and realise I'm going to need to pass a woman, I either slow down or cross the road.

Same goes dude. If a woman is nearby alone, I will either cross over or drop right back, so she feels comfortable. I've always done it.

It was always - head down, walk fast, get home. Can't remember a particular instance where I went thundering past a woman at night but I'd be surprised if I've never done it. I think another thing is men calling out other men more. I'm sure most would've known at least one other bloke in their life who was a bit of a dick when it came to women. That lad who got a bit arsey if he got told to get lost on a night out or only ever spoke about them in derogatory ways. Little moments that don't look like much in isolation but when you add them all up makes you think "Yeah, he had issues with women.". Not saying all those lads end up being rapists but you can guarantee there's signs with most of these fuckers that they're capable of something like this. This cunt couldn't have done more to tell the people he knew he wasn't to be trusted and they fucking ignored it.

I never used to think too much about it, but I saw so much appalling behaviour against women from men. Female staff harassed on at least a weekly basis including one time one of them getting assaulted in the car park when they were taking the bins out after closing - the police didn't do anything about it. Drunk dudes casually groping women. Drunk dudes following women home. Men trying to get women drunk - buying them doubles (or more) while ordering themselves singles or alcohol free drinks - in one place it got so bad that I had to make it policy to check with the women to see if they were aware before making the drink, they never were and usually weren't too happy about it. Drinks getting spiked, including one time catching someone I considered a mate putting something into a woman's drink, he tried to hand-wave it away as a joke when I asked what it was and wouldn't give an answer when I wouldn't let it go - I never saw him again after that despite him being in pretty much 7 days a week before. It's absolutely fucked.

Things are going both ways in regards to this. A lot of men are becoming far more conscious, but negativity towards women and what they have to deal with has been a huge part of the 'culture wars' nonsense that's been pushed so heavily the last few years. I'm starting to see more otherwise rational people completely lose their minds and take contrarian stands against anything they consider 'progressive', even sexism and racism.

It's absolutely fucked. Totally relate to this. Worked many years behind bars and saw some disgraceful and disgusting behaviour. Had a guy pull a blade on a girl one night, we had no doorstaff, so I had to calm this fucker down and get him out of the pub. I wasn't aware of the blade at the time. It was only later the lass came in with her folks and explained what had happened. Never saw that mother fucker again.

76 more women killed since Sarah Everard was raped and murdered. Absolutely appalling. Saw something on the news earlier this week where a newish police recruit was taking about the assessment centres and the tests therein , a high percentage in his cohort didn’t pass muster , but were supposedly taken on despite this. Also, there are reports of countless partners of serving police officer who have reported incidents of domestic violence and abuse, why the devil isn’t the officer involved immediately suspended pending relevant enquires and if found true, subsequently dismissed with full loss of pension benefits? And then there’s the ongoing enquires regarding the 5 Met officers’ ghastly WhatsApp group. Truly fucked up beyond all reason. Every single serving officer should be re-vetted at the very least ,with them having to provide searchable employment or education history, which must be thoroughly, and independently checked prior to employment. I say that because I applied to join (what was then) The Independent Police Complaints Commission when it was being formed initially, we all sat a series of exams at Manchester University and the number of ex-CID officers that turned up (clearly identifiable by their beige trench coats and their conversations with each other) was astounding.

It's a horrible world we live in,but it always has been, there has always been bad people and there always will be, it's bad when some people doing these crimes are people we are meant to trust, but no matter the proffesion, police, nurse doctor's ect some people are just evil, the worst thing about it all is that it well never ever change, humans can't change.

I’m coming up to 5 months sober in a few weeks. Just wanted to thank everyone on here for being a great distraction and also for welcoming me back. Meant a lot.

I’m coming up to 5 months sober in a few weeks. Just wanted to thank everyone on here for being a great distraction and also for welcoming me back. Meant a lot. That's amazing. Great work mate. Kicking the drink is so bloody hard. I still drink, probably too much, but I'm a lightweight compared to my 20's. I'm more than happy to say I've calmed things down a lot. But when the whole culture around you seems to centre around getting out for a beer, and then kicking on; saying No to a drink is a massive challenge. So fair play to ya, keep it up and focus on your health and the improvements your making!

I suspect a lot of his followers are from those bot farms in SE Asia. He may be paying them off for giving him extra followers and likes etc. It's quite a common practice on social media. Either that or it's an indictment on the human race and how we're regressing down the evolutionary ladder.
