South Africa international Gift Leremi was killed in a car accident on Monday night, police have confirmed.
The Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder, 22, won four caps for Bafana Bafana, the last of which came at the Gold Cup two years ago.
Leremi was driving his BMW along the R556, between Vaal Road and Brackendowns, Alberton when he lost control.
Police spokesperson Jimmy Maboko said: "The car went off the road and overturned a number of times.
"He was then flung out of the vehicle."

South African Police have confirmed that international midfielder Gift Leremi was killed in a car accident that occurred late in the evening of 3 September.
Leremi, 22, had just returned from Cameroon where he played for South African champions Mamelodi Sundowns in an African Confederation Cup match.

Leremi had only recently joined Sundowns, moving in the pre-season from Orlando Pirates, where he had spent five seasons as a player.
Leremi, who had scored twice since his move to Sundowns, won four caps for South Africa, the last two years ago at the CONCACAF Gold Cup in the U.S.
