Wishful thinking forces me to vote England.
2nd: Brazil 3rd: Portugal 4th: Serbia
I haven't looked to see if this is actually possible mind you.

Haha England streaking out ahead I got sick and tired for being relentlessly worked up by the media only to be let down across many tournaments so i'm convincing myself that on recent record, getting into the semi's will be a decent achievement. Therefore i cant really vote for them. I would hazard a guess that bookies are rating Spain. Though last i heard Xavi was injured which is a bit of a blow (but then they do have Fabregas) and I think Torres is touch and go too. i might go for the Netherlands just because they are probably the only bigger under achievers than us over the last 10 years or so

I think that Spain will win it IF they manage to get all their players fit and ready, but I'll be secretly cheering ( besides Slovenia) for England to finally win something.

Head over heart says Spain, although injuries may curtail them. If, and this is a big if, we can avoid a fucking penalty shoot out then maybe we have an outside chance.

Ah yeah, i only voted on England due to the fact im english. The other 3 teams i picked probably have a better chance.
Oh, and as Chrispiano said - i didnt look into wether it was possible for my 2nd,3rd & 4th to achieve those positions

England have constaistanly been dicked by bringing a player whose been injured into a squad only for them to not be fully fit in the tourn (Becks, Owen, Rooney. Hopefully same for Spain.
I'm not overly convinced by Spain, they are good yes, but theyve alspo underachived. They didnt have any remotely tough games in the EC. So they could go the way Argies in the last World Cup, look awesome and then come cropper against a organised side. Its a pretty open Tourny imo.

England won't win, but I could see Argentina springing a surprise. They've definitely got the players to beat anyone.

Argentina would have to be up there if a) Diego Maradona wasn't their manager b) Diego hadn't already fucked them over already with his 30man squad.

Actually ppl needn't bother about the groups at this point in time.. Only after the group stages, we will know the exact pairings... I am going to base my predictions on who I think will finish top 2 in each group...
Champions : Spain* Runners-up : Brazil 3rd place : Germany 4th place : England
* If all the currently injured (Xavi, Iniesta et al) return to fitness. In the failure of such an event, Brazil and Germany move up and Spain or Italy to take third...
As someone said, it's a very open tournament where anything can happen, absolutely anything. I however feel that England are royally screwed if they don't top their group... Should the group stages go according to seedings, we have a blockbuster - England vs Serbia. Vidic and co will absolutely own Heskey or Crouch.. Their midfield is more than a match for England's. It's going to be really close but I think one truly world class player might be the difference in the end. Yes, am talking about that man Rooney.
