England v Italy in the final. England go 1-0 up through that chip Rooney constantly tries but never pulls off after 35ish mins and we do our best to bottle it. We panic and instantly start just lumping it long to Rooney to the extent that we make our second half against Argentina in 2002 look composed. Terry conceeds a pen and gets sent off in the 92nd min although the replays show a clear dive outside the box. Italy score, 1-1. Just when the entire world knows we are going to collapse like a house of cards, Rooney takes the ensuing kick-off and goes on a Giggs-esque run through entire Italian defence and smashes it home. England win the World Cup 2-1.

Em I am going to go for Argentina. I think Maradona passion in the dressing room will rub off in the players. As and outside bet I would be inclined to go for Serbia they seem to have a good squad. I have a sneaky feeling for Holland, think they have thee best chance in years. Everyone is saying Spain I'm not to sure there record outside Europe is not great.

I think Brazil. Its the most open World Cup ever. Anyone of 7 or 8 teams or more could win it.

Top three could be in any order to be fair, but the romantic in me wants Dutch victory.

City are more likely to win the PL next season than England are to win the WC.
As much as I'd like to see England win it, we're a second rate team at the moment. The reason we were so pleased to thrash Croatia was because we're on the same level. We have better players, but don't play like a top team.
To often the long ball to Crouch or Heskey is the preferred option. We can't keep possession, we have an abundance of average keepers, no top class right back, Terry and Ferdinand have not developed a relationship and are not as solid as Campbell and Ferdinand were. We have an abundance of hit and miss wingers who get their heads down and run. They usually either overrun the ball or have no end product. One of the most creative England players in the squad (Joe Cole) isn't even guaranteed of going to the World Cup. Lampard is asked to play as a generic midfielder, when he's not that great at that - his strength is playing around the other team's penalty area. We have no left footed player of note, the best option at present is Adam Johnson, who is generally played on the right and isn't even sure of going.
Look at the Mexico and Japan matches, gave possession away too easily, but got the result because you can afford to lose possession to these teams, do it against the Spains, Argentinas and Brazils of this world, and their attacking talent (just think of those names for a sec) will make you pay.
I'd go so far as to say we haven't changed much since Sven's days in charge.
Seriously, if we win the WC it will be a major shock.
