holy fuck...what the hell is happening to the players??
This has gotta prove that the english league needs a winter break. Or the amount of games need to be downsized. The amount of PL players that are out with injury due is ridiculous. Altho it should mean Nani and Rio are fit for next season
Give teams that qualify for Europe the option to opt-out of the carling cup or something.

Just when you thought this guy could have a good WC and return an even better player.. Gutted for him but on the brighter side, should be fit and fresh for the next season..

i raised it in another thread, i think the majority of players playing for big clubs are utterly knackered. I think the idea of a summer tournament in the modern game is more the problem. A winter break would help big time but the financial masters at sky wouldn't allow it.

Nani's is a shoulder injury which can happen at anytime so thats nothing to do with tiredness, but you certainly make a fair point.

The worst part is, the tournament is yet to begin.. Players have already raised concerns over playing at an altitude and expect more injuries as the cup progresses...

Gutted for him, it could really have been his time to shine after a great 2nd half of the season for us.

Yeah I thought he was really going to thrive on that momentum generated towards the latter part of the season and kick on for a really impressive tournament.
This:
Was quite indicative of that, and I for one was looking forward to seeing a little bit more of Nani and our Ronnie linking up during the WC.
Gutted for him, especially with such a sudden unforseeable injury. Hope he's once again in flying form as soon as he's back with us. Yeah the PL players and those in the big european leagues, who've had busy seasons with their clubs progressing far in various competitions, seem very susceptible to injury.

That said i agree wholeheartedly with the winter break. said it before, drop the prem down by 2 teams, sorted. Though obviously less ££ for sky and premier league then Gutted for Nani, he was in my fantasy footie team as i fancied him to really have a good tournament.

Ah absolutely gutted for him, really though it was his time to shine in this years tournament.
It's a major blow for Portugal. I had them down as a sneaky outside bet. Don't fancy there chances at all know.
I'm starting to wonder will there be any good players left to play in the world cup come Friday ? They seem to be dropping like flies.

Some injuries can be put down to freak accidents, obviously this one is unrelated to fatigue, but it can't be denied that the condition players who've just completed long, demanding campaigns join their national squad in leaves them more susceptible to injury. Arjen Robben as just seen off a season as the Bayern lynchpin, playing at a frequent rate in many competitions as they had a successful season reaching the latter stages in many competitions and winning a domestic double. Alrthough he is generally regarded as prone to injury and one could argue that fatigue is not a contributing factor to the hamstring injury.

Hard luck to Nani, good season this year and a good world cup would only have bolstered his confidence even more.

You can't possibly break your collar bone from fatigue, it must have been an awkward landing. With regard to the winter break, it would be great for the players but I personally would miss the buzz of games arounf Christmas time. It wouldn't be the same without United playing.
