Yeah the concentrated spate of fixtures around Christmas is a tradition I personally want to see upheld. Irishredmufc your only a young lad too aren't ya? You still in school? I've got the leaving next year so hoping to make a game during the festive season and the holidays from school they bring, eagerly awaiting the announcement of the fixture list.

Imagine all these players who are dropping like flies, I cannot imagine what is going to happen to those who are not completely fit, but try to go that extra yard just to play a sodding friendly match i.e Wayne Rooney. Wazza is no-way near 100% and hasn't been for ages since he tried to come back after turning his ankle. No matter how young he is, he should have had some proper rest. SIr Alex should have sat him down and talked with him, plain and simple, no matter how hot-headed Wazza gets. This is all I can see, an unfit Wazza getting injured..

The WC is very inconvenient falling in the same summer that should be serving instead as an ample resting phase for Wazza, but I'm sure he's sufficiently resilient to return next season with the ankle in a somewhat recovered condition, as Ingurland will be knocked out early, especially in the undesirable circumstance that he does sustain an injury.

It's ust rotten luck. I hope he doesn't beat himself up about it, and (somewhat bitterly,) I also hope that Portugal is a complete flop so he doesn't feel like he's missed anything.

How many of these injuries can you really put down to a demanding season.
Drogba, broken arm. Nani, collarbone. Ferdinand hasn't had a tough season, Essien just didn't have enough time to recover from a bad injury, Ballack was the result of a bad tackle. And Robben's hamstrings have repeatedly caused him problems.
Injuries happen all the time, it's simply a coincidence it has happened to so many big names, nobody would suggest the Premiership is too demanding if a bunch of squad players got injured.
Gutted for Nani too, just hoping he reacts positively to this setback and shows everyone what they missed next season.

If it is the pitches in South Africa, then I don't see how we are complaining about Wembley, apart from the cost. These pitches seem pretty tough.

Yeah same here I've the leavin next year. I was hoping to get to a game in August. How do you get over? Shannon to Liverpool is always cheap but usually doesnt suit coming back. Theres a new flight now from Shannon to Manchester so that will be handy. I'm hoping to get a season ticket when I'm in second year in college, because I wont be 18 till then and wouldn't be allowed over on my own before then Yeah I know can't wait either 17th June

Hard luck Nani, was lookin forward to watchin him in action, at least he cant be injured more seriously at the WC now, hopefully this has him really fired up for next season.
Jeez lads, before a Winter break is ever talked of the Wemberlee pitch should be relayed as Wythenshawe pointed out, its the biggest threat to players welfare in English football today.
Is Quaresma at the WC with Portugal?
EDIT: No he isn't just looked it up, I should be more in touch but I couldnt give a shit about Ricardo Quaresma, he was a bit of a portuguese Mc Geady, all hyped up with a few neat tricks to boast but he was never that good of a player.

Nani's injury was his own fault apparantly. He was trying some acrobatics and messed it up. silly billy

@ scholeseviltwin
Are you being serious. Cause I heard that he was doing his celebration when he injured himself ? Is this bullshit ?

yeah, thats what i ment. Celebration/acrobatics - its the same thing when Nani is concerned.
Still his own fault.**
*i reckon he did it on purpose to give himself the summer off as he is sick of international football

Hope Fergie gives him a stern talking to about his celebrations, although I do enjoy them . It's immature on Nani's behalf. He's let his country down now.

Fergie always had a problem with his celebrations saying they were dangerous.

That's only because he can't do them himself . Jealously is a horrible thing

All the newspapers were saying he injured his collarbone while performing an overhead/bicycle kick. Not during the celebration.
THough I agree he should cut it out, why take the risk.
