Oh Almunia, with most keepers you could make the arguement ' xxxxxx would have not fumbled that like Robert Green'. However this can never be applied to old Manuel.

i was referring to the fact most of the German team wasnt born in Germany, and that Almunia said he would take English citizenship and play for the national team.
They get good players, england get almunia.

I think Germany will go very far in the world cup, they have all the ingredients needed to win the world cup, they have a pretty good defense although there people to have question marks over the two central defenders. They are fantastic when counter attacking and there holding midfielders are great. They also have a lot of experience in there squad.
If England were to finish runners up in there group and if Germany were to win then they would face each other, that for me would be a mouth watering clash .

Englands second string beat them 12 months ago i remember, australia were utter kack. They are young and inexperienced in my opinion and a good side like always would beat them

Anybody else rooting for the Danes tomorrow to beat the Dutch?
Denmark aren't a fancy skilled team, but aren't boring either. They do try and play an exciting game.

Germany were impressive.. They always have been ruthless against weaker oppositions like Saudi Arabia et al.. The youngsters in Ozil, Muller & Khedira all looked the part. It will be interesting to see how they fare against better opposition. I think they can go as far as the semis.. Both the red card decisions yesterday were poor and hopefully refs don't play spoilsport in the games to come..

Holland didn't really impress me this morning, I know teams are not meant to peak to early but there doesn't seem to be any real balance in the side.
Another question mark I have is can Robin Van Persie do the simple thing ? Or does he always have to go for the spectacular goal/pass. It gets annoying at times.

Yeah RVP is very wasteful at times, he must be immensely frustrating for those Holland/ Awsnul inclined. Cameroon v Japan isn't exactly a stirring encounter, not that I expected a swashbuckling feast of attacking verve.

Holland were very poor this morning, another big team that have failed to impress...That Elia kid looks like a real star in the making though.. I had money on the Dutch so it was a nervy game for me.. I cant see anything other than a very boring game tonight between Italy and Paraguay.

Perhaps even without Pirlo, I think an Italy win will be in order. They have what it takes to score and keep a lead. Unlike some other teams I can mention...cough...cough...

Yes I think tonight will be a boring game, the usual relaxed pace, keeping possession football from the Italians. Can't see Paraguay doing much, a draw at best.

Didn't Paraguay manage a draw against the Ivory Coast and lost to Ireland? I am not sure if my facts are correct. If this is true, then Italy could have a tough match, but should they score, then its good night for Paraguay.

I wouldn't be surprised if Italy stumble out pretty early this tournament. Old and past it. They were pretty similar in 2006 but from looking at their squad I really don't see any really up and coming talent. Probably a knock on effect of implosion of Italian football a few years ago.
this does reek of me having to eat my words at some point. They have enough quality to qualify but i dont expect them to be able to roll back the clock against any of the other decent sides.
Anyway here's hoping for a 3-3 match!

Italy will eek out a 2-0 win I'd say, they're as good as Ireland and probably better, Ireland beat Paraguay 3-0 but this is a big tourney so I'll say the lathargic but functional Italy eek out a 2-0.
