I dont get how barry was kept on for the full match yesterday. He must be injured, he cant be that bad surely. England were crying out for someone to get on the ball in the middle of the park and play the passes i.e Carrick.

England were crying out for someone decent in the centre of the park yesterday - and it sure wasnt Barry. Fuck club form - we have seen this has no bearing on international form. Carrick deserved a chance at least. He couldnt have done any worse than the rest did.
Poor lad, his confidence was shattered after last season as it was, and yet he still couldnt get into a piss-poor england team ahead of the shite that played anyway

Capello was a genius in the eyes of ingerlund fans before the tournament....He has shown throughout the tournament he's not that very good. Barry before Carrick is just one example. Also Heskey before Crouch, Johnson ahead of....well anyone that can defend really, and not playin j.cole.

engalnd need to plan for the future. the next world cup is about the right distance away. use the euros as a spring board in 2 years time. therefore, no, carrick should not be in the side. id drop 70% of the england sqaud and start again building a new team around a more modern system. Jack Rodwell should be in the midfield rather than carrick, barry, lampard. get the caps under the lads belt and have him and a number of other youngsters like Gosling, hart and johnson. the golden generation as they are billed have had many oppurtunities at tournements to prove themselves and have failed every time. lets move on now, ______________________Hart______________ Johnson______Dawson________? ??_________Cole _____________hargreaves______Rodwell____________ Walcott________________Gerrard___________Johnson _____________________Rooney____________________. and slowly introduce other young players as we go. and yes, i know hargreaves is hopeful thinking

England played like morons yesterday. Headless chickens. I'm not sure you can blame Capello for Terry and Upson making a bollox of defending something you'd see routinely done in a park on a sunday for the first goal. Also, did Capello tell 3 of his back 4 to go up for a free kick and then watch as Lampard blasted it into the wall, enabling them to be hit on the break? I also wouldn't blame Capello for the English game failing to produce a single creative midfielder in nearly 20 years bar Scholes. No wonder he wanted him back as he's the only English midfielder that can actually make an incisive pass or change the point of attack. He retired because the England players voted to change from a diamond to a flat 4 in midfield with Scholes on the left side of midfield. So Lampard and Gerrad could play in the middle. Look how that's worked out.

They need a manager whom is willing to make change, as someone mentioned above why wasn't Carrick presented with a starting opportunity? He could not have done worse than Barry !

Real Madrid midfield, Xavi Alonso, has today claimed that one of the reasons England failed to impress during this World Cup was because Michael Carrick was below Chelsea’s Frank Lampard and Manchester City’s Gareth Barry in the midfield pecking order. “Gerrard is a great player. He inspires and leads, he is very strong and is capable of making players around him raise their game, but he also needs players alongside to bring the best out of him,” said Alonso. “England missed a player like Carrick in the midfield, somebody who knows how to be in the right place at the right time. Gerrard gains a lot from having a player like Carrick as a partner, somebody who provides the back-up he needs to be free and bring his power to bear decisively in a game.”
Copy and pasted from Scott's blog but people are crucifying Carrick saying he was never good, fucking hell one bad season and suddenly he is the shittest player we ever bought...
