What do people think of his actions last night?
I was glad to see Uruguay go through but his actions did provoke a bit of controversy.
He handled the ball on the line to stop a guaranteed winner, watched on the sidelines as Ghana missed the penalty and celebrated as he scored and then Uruguay won on penalties.
I think his actions were justified as Uruguay went through, he sacrificed himself for his team and he'll miss the semi-final for it, although it was a risk as Ghana still could have scored.
Reminds me of Ole's sending off against Newcastle when he knew he'd get sent off but did it anyways for the team.

Been discussing it on the World cup chat thread. Split 50/50 i'd say.
I say bravo to Suarez!

Anyone of us would have doing the exact same thing if we were in that position. The referee can't be argued against he followed the rules of football and done things right. He sent Suarez off for handling the ball him being last man back, the ball didn't go over the line so therefore he could not award a goal. He also awarded a penalty. So big clap for him. It's a though one. Do we argue that the rules of football should be changed or do we criticize the Ghana penalty tacker with his un professionalism when handling the pressure of taking the penalty. I personally am sympathetic towards Ghana but at the same time feel they had a opportunity to win the game and they did not take it. So therefore hard luck Ghana well done Suarez

Or 2. Imagine if the ref hadn't seen it and Uruguay went on the counter and scored. Your choice.

Yes good point.
I don't think anyone can criticize the referee.
If people have a argument about the incident we'll then there arguing the rules of football.

Why though? He was punished for it. Red card and a penalty.

In circumstances like that the goal should of been given to stop the ghanians having to take a high pressure penalty, I don't like this fucking stuff of players carrying suarez around on there shoulders like a fucking trophy business. Now if one of our lads does it against the dippers or the massive then i might change my opinion in a flash thats football i guess.

Solskjaer was a hero when he got himself sent off against Newcastle because he did it "for the team"
It would be ridiculous for FIFA to extend his ban for unsportsmanlike behaviour considering all the instances of 'players holding their face when they got tapped on the shoulder' that we've seen in the WC so far that they've completely ignored, so I fully expect them to give him the additional 2 games knowing FIFA's logic.

Why though? He was punished for it. Red card and a penalty. i kno but theres just no place for that kind of thing in the game, i dont think ghana were hard done by because yeh he got sent off and yeh they got a pen which they MISSED! so saurez cant be blamed for that but if hes getting away with a 1 game ban then some players might start taking advantage abit

gotta agree, it cant be allowed.
you get sent off and get a 1 match ban for denying an opposition player just a goal scoring chance.
he denied them AN ACTUAL GOAL. and that cant be allowed.
ghana were through to the semis if he didnt do that.
ghana's compensation was a goal scoring CHANCE, not an actual goal like it should have been..
Suarez, im sure youll be a hero back home, but to me, you will always be a first class cheating cunt.

It can't be allowed. But he was punished accordingly.
The referee and Fifa have only followed the rules of football.
A question for everyone.
If a player gets s straight red in international duty, is it a three match ban or one match ?

I don't get all this uproar over the hand ball to be honest. Why should a penalty goal be awarded just because this happened in the last minute? Ghana wouldn't be complaining if it was the first minute and they could play 90/120 mins against 10 men as they did against Australia. In fact people usually complain about the double whammy of sending off and pen as being too harsh, but now it's not harsh enough just because it was the last minute or they missed the pen? The rules shouldn't change just because the stakes get higher as the game goes on.
Suarez did something illegal, knowing the consequences, which were duly dished out and got lucky because Ghana bottled the pen. That's not his fault.
