Sitting in the lounge here watching it, felt depressed when Terry stepped up to take the penalty then a big sigh of relief and a smile when he missed but.....when VDS made the save I just leapt in the air and yelled "YEEEESSSS", my wife was in the back room on her laptop and came running into the lounge and said "What the fuck....keep the noise down, remember the neighbours", all I said was "FUCK THE NEIGHBOURS...." and started prancing around singing Man United songs lol. Looking forward doing the same again very soon... ...hopefully...

Was watching it at home with a mate of mine, also united supporter.when terry stepped up we prepared ourselves to get drunk that night and i had already tears in my eyes. Still started crying but just after van der sars moment.we were screaming and crying and dancing like crazy. Called my dad and couldnt really speak to him as i was just yelling some non existent bullshit into the phone and he couldnt stop laughing at the other end

Can't beat 99 though, my daughter was working in a pub as a manageress in Edinburgh and she supports us and when we won that I was just bloody numb at first and couldn't believe we had won the treble. She rung me up and the pub was full of United supporters and the match was on live and yelled down the phone "Did you watch the match pops, we bloody won YAHOOOO", I just laughed and said "yep..." She was working the next day at a night time shift and good old pops went to her pub with the wife and sunk a few free lagers compliments of our daughter, a never forget thing for an old man like me.

the 99 win was even more special. remember that night like a movie in my head but its more the word exchange i had with my dad that i`ll never forget. was watching with him, also at home. and i remember myself, was 14 at that time, not being able to sit down properly in the last 30mins or so. always jumping and hoping for the equalizer. in the moment when bayern made that substitution, dont remember now if it was basler or matthäus being replaced, my dad said to me: "calm down son its over now, bayern were the better team unfortunately" and i replied: "shut up dad, its not over yet, something must happen"! and just minutes later the drama unfolded. i was on the moon, crying obviously and my dad celebrated with me and opened a bottle of red wine that we drank together.
fuck...how i miss that feeling of winning the champions league...

His accuracy and power were breathtaking at times...those sumptuous volleys...had a decent left peg too... How anyone can compare hind and Stevie Me beggars belief...

Re the 99 final, myself and missus and a mate of mine ( big Chelsea supporter ) watched it in our local at the time. We got there 2 hours early. An hour to go, and you couldn't move in the place. My brother died in January of that year ( the day we beat the scousers in the cup with two very late goals). At half time in the CL final, my mate asked me if I still thought we would win. "Absolutely" I said. I was never more sure of anything in my life. All during the game I was talking to my brother in my head, pleading with him, that if he had any kind of influence, wherever the fuck he was, to use it. When sheringham scored, we went ballistic. When Ole scored a minute later, I just sat in my seat with tears rolling down my cheeks. I'm not spiritual or religious, but I like to think my brother had something to do with the ending :-)

He plays for Novara now. Mid-table Serie B. Signed last month, two appearances.
