People getting pets then trying to guilt trip you into looking after it/them when they want to fuck off on holiday for a week or 2! You should just say no. There are nice kennels available these days in abundance exactly for this purpose. Surely they want what's best for their pet and aren't that cheap that they won't pay for their pet to be taken care of ? |

Such as a family member (me) or a friend. I actually think they shouldn't be asking because people, particularly family, often feel obliged to do this kind of thing even if they don't want to.
As I said, I love dogs. If I go to someone's house who has a dog you can guarantee I'll spend more time with the dog than speaking to the person but I'm always safe in the knowledge that I get to go home and not have the responsibility of looking after it.

I fucking love dogs. At one time I had 5, but the last one died late last year  I quite often get roped in to pet sitting for friends and family. I don't mind at all. There can never be too many dogs around. |

My Grandmother is a wonderful, kind, generous, strong and for the most part, intelligent woman, she's been like more of a 2nd mother to me than a Grandparent, such is the closeness of our relationship but for the life of me I can't bare seeing her at the moment and I've hidden her on social media because she won't stop talking nonsense about this kind of shit. All these dumb as fuck posts that go around facebook, she shares and believes every fucking one, it's infuriating and fucking embarrassing in equal measure.
Amazes me how some can be such good people but completely blinded by stupidity at the same time.

I think certain parts of the media have to shoulder a portion of the blame for this kind of thing but ultimately we're talking about grown ass adults who can't seem to form their own balanced opinions and are reacting to every bullshit headline in the Daily Mail and listening to some cunt down the pub who said his mate said that a Muslim bloke complained that he had a blow up Santa in his front garden.

Most older people are completely unequipped to be able to deal with the internet and internet culture. A lot of younger people as well, for that matter. They grew up in an age where the news was the news. It was more ethical and trustworthy, and less agenda driven than it is now. Most people didn't question it. These days any cunt with an agenda and an internet connection can present themselves as a journalist or authority. Memes and soundbites and snapshots are easily spread and digested. And all of it is true to them because the news is the news. The best thing you can do is never stop telling her she is wrong when she is wrong, even though she won't like it, and try to teach her how to fact check, even though she probably won't. |

I've had plenty of disagreements with her, always tell her it's bullshit. She's incredibly stubborn and too far gone now. Doesn't help that she spends a lot of time with one of my uncles who is quite frankly a numbskull and fills her head with this shit as well. A few weeks ago I was actually lecturing them on every Asian person not being a Muslim. It seemed to be news to my Uncle in particular that Asian's can be part of all kinds of religions.
She does talk about it less around me now because she knows I'll disagree with her. I usually only catch stuff on the rare occasion I go on facebook.
I'd say she's very well equipped to deal with the internet and internet culture. She's been computer and internet literate since I was a kid. I just think some people are able to be rational and don't view Islamic extremism as the fault of every Muslim on the planet and some aren't. Obviously you have to counter in the rise of terrorism in this country over recent years as well, she's definitely gotten worse since the Manchester Arena bombings.
