I remember the summer we were about to buy him I was doing a paper round. I was getting so excited about this player that I would just nip off down an alley and read the newspapers for a bit. Then it all fell through and you can't believe how gutted I was. Remember, this is a player that I'd never even heard of before, but now I was so emotionally wrapped up in us signing him. Luckily, it was just a season-long wait. I used to keep a cut out of an article that linked us with him in my school blazer. I'll never forget those two goals he scored when we were 2-1 down to Aston Villa in the FA Cup. Cue pitch invasion. Sorely missed. Remember watching that live on BBC1. Big Pete in goal for Villa? What a night. |

I don't think we've had much better in my time supporting the club...maybe Denis but that's about it...too young to have seen Tommy Taylor...just about!! |

Aaah nostalgia, I can't remember against who and when, he just could not get it past the keeper, but I'll never forget the look on his face when he took a pen & it rebounded, and he had that look 'trying fucking saving this!' - cue a super smash from 6 yards! Class striker, goal machine, legend!
