Spurs have admitted they might be willing to sell to allow 'Arry to strengthen the squad.
If the Sneijder deal isnt dead, and Inter are playing hardball, maybe a solid, public bid of 35mill for Modric might persuade them??

Or we could just say F*** off to Inter and really go after Modric. I would be happy either way if we got one of those two...

Nah fuck Spurs too. They wanted to play hardball but it didn't pay off because Chelsea aren't the ridiculous spenders they once were. So I say let them keep Modric and not improve their squad and hopefully there'll be a lesson in that for them. Anyway, Cleverley has some characteristics quite similar to him, more so than Sneijder.

I can't remember where I heard this, but apparently we made inquiries about Modric and were told in no uncertain terms to get lost. So we did. Chelsea on the other hand went public, so perhaps we have some cache with Spurs.

Who knows... maybe Chelsea have pissed Spurs off so much that they might be willing to do business elsewhere just to spite them...?

Unlikely, they secretly hoped for a £40million bid so they could build on their squad after an over priced sale. Chelsea, for whatever reason FFP maybe, don't seem willing to chuck silly money around now hence the conservative bids. Spurs wanted to play hardball as always and have now ended up with a want-away player and about 0 signings (that i've noted anyway). I'm a little sick of fleecing that happens, so they can keep Modric for all I care. Its no surprise that even though we obviously had cash for this summer, 2 of our signings were release clauses and 1 was on a 1 year deal.

Neil Ashton said Gill asked about Modric in the summer. He was told, where to go.
This won't happen for United, or Chelsea.
Unless the rentboys offer silly money, he'll stay at Spurs.

I can't produce the source but remember Modric going public and saying that he wanted to move, but would be staying in London. That narrowed down the realistic field to........one!

Spurs should buy him, they need a little maestro in midfield to replace that Croatian guy who'll be leaving soon.

to think i actually believed harry ramsden when he was adamant that him and the chairman both agreed modric was not for sale at any price. i'm well aware every player has their price and that spurs won't keep him for long once he's decided he wants to do one. but i actually believed they'd force another season out of him before cashing in.
as for us yeah he'd be a good addition, but after a summer of making noises about going to the rents then who knows.

Anyone else particularly enjoying the cut-and-thrust gameplaying that's developed all of a sudden?
Molten Face: "Well, Luka's a great lad and brilliant player but if someone offered us a lot a lot of money we'd have to sell him to get other players in."
AVB: "Modric is a fantastic player, but I dunno if we really need him. Especially seeing how he'll be so expensive."
Redknapp: *Shit, I was banking on shafting that lot for about £45 million near the end of the summer. I've transfer targets I'd like to buy!*

i would love us to sign this guy. modric was my first option all along. i understand if spurs told us to fuck off and we dont sign him then but i would love us to enquire again just to test the waters and you never know what may happen. before i wouldnt mind us bidding 40m for him, but now i would say try 30m and see what may happen.
