If nothing else i think we should make life difficult for both chelsea and spurs and bid for him. This will force the price up meaning that if chelsea do get him they have to pay more and it will also drag it out to the end of the window and piss spurs off which will teach them a lesson for not accepting our enquiry(if we did indeed enquire about him) in the first place and also means they cant bring in a replacement.

Scholes, you devil you.
Didn't he make it clear he wanted to join Chelsea? I thought if that had been the case then it would have left a bad taste in a lot of United fans mouths. But then I guess that is the way of the modern footballer, it is a rarity any of them play for the club they support. Unless you're Spanish... The poor home-sick souls.

The poor home-sick souls. or Robbie Keane - he must have had some size bedroom given the amount of posters of his favourite teams he had on his walls - Wolves, Coventry, Inter, Leeds, Spurs, Liverpool, Spurs(again), Celtic, West Ham and now LA Galaxy. Must be an absolute dream come true to support that many teams when you were a kid AND end up playing for them all. Most footballers are lucky if they get to play for one team that they supported as a kid.

Even though Im irish I have to agree that Robbie Keane is a little cunt who made tonnes of money out of being a very average player who scored 30+ of his international goals against the likes of san Marino from penalties. Retiring himself to the US at 31 says it all really. Imagine us loosing scholesy at 31 to the galaxy??? He is a proper football man and would never have fallen into the money machine mercenary lifestyle with a dog of a WAG. Rant Over!!

Twatter "ITKs" claiming we have submitted a bid for Modric in the last 48 hours. Could the D.Mirror be on to something or are the "rumours" originating from the story? Luka Modric wants to become Manchester United’s star summer signing. Modric is prepared to refuse to be part of Real Madrid’s world record package to sign Tottenham star Gareth Bale in the hope United bid for him. United boss David Moyes has suffered a frustrating summer so far. He is yet to fully give up on Cesc Fabregas, but has been forced to consider Modric as one of a number of alternative targets for the champions. Moyes remains keen on signing Marouane Fellaini from Everton, but, ideally, wants two midfielders before the transfer window shuts. Spurs would like to re-sign Modric, either as part of Bale’s expected switch to Real or independent of that transfer. But Modric, 27, is understood to have no intention of moving back to White Hart Lane, as he waits to see if Moyes firms up interest in him with an official bid. But Real won't sell Modric for 20 Million and a United shirt signed by Glazer will they now , so we won;t get him even if this twatter rumor is correct

Anyone seen this courtesy of Daniel Taylor at the Guardian?
"On the stories at the weekend about Modric and Man Utd, Moyes definitely was interested (even spoke to Harry Redknapp for background info) but also had reservations about whether he sometimes 'disappeared' in big games. Latest info was that they wouldn't be going for him. The same with Cabaye at Newcastle.
Moyes clearly doesn't want to make a pig's ear of his first signings and likes to do a lot of research on potential targets. The problem is he hasn't shopped at this level before so it's all from scratch.
For example, Utd had been looking at Thiago for three years. Moyes thought long and hard about going with the recommendations of the scouting staff but, in the end, just didn't feel comfortable with it and decided (rightly or wrongly) Fábregas was the better choice. On Fábregas, it's "low probability" - they see it as a staring contest between Barca and Fábregas and their info is still that he is not as settled as he makes out (far from it). I can't see it happening myself and I'm surprised they haven't put in a bid that would make Barça think about it a bit more seriously."
Doesn't sound promising.

I said somewhere a while back Moyes is like a kid in a sweetshop with his first lot of pocket money. Spoilt with choice and doesn't know what to spend his money on.
I would have thought Fergie would have handed a folded piece of paper with a few names on it... "Dave I think these players would strengthen your new team"

Precisely man, I'm absolutely astonished the club/Fergie didn't have some sort of transitional plan in place whereby they give Moyes an idea of where the shortcomings are and what players would be realistically attainable that could fill the void. The way this played out made it seem to people that Moyes is out of his depth, when really he's taken over a massive job and needs time to acclimatize. The major problem being that we have barely any time before the window shuts and Moyes's hasn't been involved in top-top level transfers, which are about more than just throwing the adequate amount of cash at the selling club.
Also, didn't realize the thread was 2 years old, read Wesley up there^ and nearly fainted.
