He's too good to go on loan. I'd have him on the bench all season and play him when we're cruising against some teams. Agree he is a great potential but giving him football in easy/comfortable environment may not bring him on quite so quickly. A season @ Wigan worked wonders for TC,if we were to farm him out to another premiership club like we did with TC he would probably develop quicker playing regular for them than occasionly for us when games are won. Cleverley was ready for our first team last year. He did well for Wigan but he should have been in our squad all season. Playing most of the time actually. Somehow Gibson was getting 20 games and Clevs was the one who went on loan. I'd like to see Pogba in and around our squad this season, maybe notching up 15/20 odd of the games Giggs and Carrick would be getting between them when Cleverley and Ando are fully fit together. (I don't mean that Giggs and Carrick are only going to get 10 games each by the way, I mean out of the overall match time they get.)

I would disagree there, not sure that he was ready for our 1st team last season? I think we are seeing a more developed player mentally & physically this season largely due to playing regular 1st team football. Would he have developed as much with limited 1st team football with us?? I also think that without wanting to be disrespectful to clubs like Wigan,a season with them has probably made Cleverly all the more determined & focused to succeed @ United having now seen how the other 1/2 live.

For one, I think loan deals are generally overrated by fans. Last year was actually an exception in rule we had 2 players come back from loans a slot into the first team. One might argue that because they had prem clubs, they were already quite a high standard already. Like Bestie said, Clevers could easily have surpassed Gibsons contribution last year.
Secondly, loan deals seem more pertinent when were biding our time for a good player to physically mature. I'm pretty sure Welbeck came back a couple of inches taller than the last time he played for United and bit beefier too. Pogba really doesn't need that, he's already huge and seems to filling out so he'll probably be ready for the prem sooner than we think.
Like tatty said, he's already too good. I've already said I'd be willing to bet on him fighting for a first team spot by 2012. We're just slowly introducing him, we'll see more of him in our CC fixtures and our weak CL fixtures. Fergie himself said that if Pogba hadn't taken a knock playing for the reserves he would have been on the bench against Chelsea.
He has the talent, we just needed to see the mental strength in a first team shirt. I think he showed that even though a bit nervous (naturally) he still went back for the ball time and again and sprayed a few 50 yard passes. I'm very excited about him and I think he'll be ready before a lot of people think.

I think Pogba was decent last night, wasn't overly impressive but it was only his first performance in the first team there was bound to be nerves and other issues to over come.
On the loaning issue I think loaning is a good way of a player gathering experience however is only works for some players. Every player is different, Beckham is a fine example, he was loaned out and then went on to have a fantastic United career.
I don't think it's harsh to consider the "loaning" system useless.

every player is different, rooney would never have gone out on loan because he was ready for everton to chuck him in at 16.
other players need to step away from the spotlight and pressure of a top club and get games and experience in a more forgiving environment, it's a funny thing to say the loan deals are overrated by fans when the managers are often keen for their young stars to go away on loan.

Exactly, it's all about the individual player and the situation at the club. Plenty of players benefit greatly from loans and the opportunity to play first team football week in week out. For others it doesn't work out and they're better off staying and breaking into the team gradually without previous first team experience.
I think it would help Macheda, as there's too much competition up front and he's yet to be loaned to a Prem team, but I think Pogba can break in this season and stake a claim for a place in time, without the need for a loan.

I agree that it is very much a case of some players it will suit some it won't. Pogba to my mind looks like the kind of lad that could just do with & would benefit hugely from playing 20 odd consecutive games. Beckham is probably the perfect example of this. I think you need to be mentally tough to handle a loan spell away,Pogba must be made of the right stuff as he has been away from home for a couple of years & seems to have handled it & taken it in his stride. Pogba physically looks the part that say Wellbeck didn't before going to Sunderland, but you need to know how make physical presence count for something & that very often only comes from playing games.
