I didn't see a thread for this so forgive me if it has already been started.
I just wanted to use this medium to say that i have been deeply moved by the tragedy that struck the Dynamo Minsk Hockey team earlier this week.
For those of you who are unaware, the entire Dynamo Minsk Hockey team perished in a plane crash, along with the crew of the plane. there were only two survivors, one player, and one member of the plane's crew, both of which are in critical condition.
the parallels with our very own club's disaster in Munich go without saying. Both teams were extremely talented, and were held in high regard by their fans and their respective countries.
I saw that United reached out to the Dynamo Minsk organisation for moral support, this is a classy thing to do, and i applaud the team for the sentiment. I also think that a minutes silence, or the black armbands would be appropriate for the Bolton Match or our next outing at OT.
RIP to those who are lost.

What a tragedy.
I was watching United the other day, thinking about the pain and suffering of players, their families and everybody that loved our club. Then I go and turn on the TV and see the reports about the plane crash in Russia. Sadly I just heard that the only player that survived the crash died too.
May they rest in peace

It wasnt the Minsk team that died - it was Lokomotiv Yaroslavl. They were on their way to Minsk when it happened
Yeah, that was the first thing i thought of when i saw it on Sky News. Any air crash is a terrible tragedy, but to lose a whole team is desperate - RIP to all those that died and condolences to all those they left behind.
Will be following Yaroslavl now to see how they recover from this loss. Only one player from their entire roster survived - Maxim Zyuzyakin - because he didnt travel. Apparantly theres a procedure in place for this type of incident, its called a "Disaster Draft" - Every other team in the league will select up to three players for the pool of 40–45 players for Lokomotiv to select in the disaster draft, which will select up to 14 players, as five players will be promoted from Lokomotiv's youth team. And the selected players will continue to be paid by their respective teams rather than Lokomotiv.
Lokomotiv have decided to withdraw from participating this season - which is a shame, but understandable.

Flying, the safest way to travel. They say. Yet when a disaster occurs it brings with it complete destruction, suffering and very slim chances of surviving. Such a tragedy, such a loss. Rest easy.
