Ok so it's become a joke (always was really, Hitchcock, Peter O'Toole, Stanley fucking Kubrick never won it. Kubrick!!!) But what the hell, predictions Best Actor- French geezer from the Artist. Genuinely superb performance. Love to see Gary Oldman win though. Best Actress- Alas Streep is nailed on but Michelle Williams should win for Marilyn Supporting Actor-Hopefully Brannagh Supporting Actress- Should be Mc Carthy from Bridesmaid but it'll be from the help Best original screenplay- The Artist Best adapted- Tinker Tailor but it'll be the descendents Best Director- Hazavinacus- The Artist Best Picture The Artist. I doubt even half of these will be right

Gary oldmans first nomination and it would be great to see him win but this hype with the artist might take it away from him. I don't think its a great collection of movies this year.

Anyone a fan of Sherlock?
God I've gone through both seasons in a matter of days!

Anyone a fan of Sherlock? God I've gone through both seasons in a matter of days! Maybe in the wrong thread, but yes in its brevity it was the best thing on telly. The first episode of season 2 was the best thing I've seen in years. They will make a 3rd eventually but the actors are busy with one in The Hobbit and one in Star Trek 2.

Yeah, sorry for drifting off, didn't want to create an entire thread. Can't wait for the 3rd season but, if it's any sort of consolation, I'm incredibly excited for the Hobbit so they can take their time!

Not seen any of the winners, but I assume The Artist won everything, including the stuff it wasn't nominated for, The Stanley Cup, Superbowl, WWE title and the SPL.

To be fair, it probably could actually win the SPL.
Really deserved for The Artist. It was brilliant.

Hugo did quite well too, glad to see an Irish film picking up best short.
I heard a piece on the radio today, its was saying the Artist didn't do to well at the box office but expect it to make up for it through dvd tales know that its won oscars.

Artistic was excellent in fairness. Also, Sherlock is fucking fantastic. The Baskervilles episode was one of the best hours I've ever seen on tv.

Anyone a fan of Sherlock? God I've gone through both seasons in a matter of days! Ditto. Got 5 episodes from a friend in Feb but stayed away from them till this week. And I took day's' only because I wanted the excitement to last. The Reichenbach Fall will need at least one more viewing though. Best episode for me was 'A Scandal in Belgravia' with 'The Hounds of Baskerville' a close second.
