Manchester United are reportedly closing in on Rayo Vallecano midfielder Michu.

The 25 year-old Spaniard, real name Miguel Perez Cuesta, has been a big hit for the newly promoted side since joining last summer.

Michu has netted 13 times in 24 appearances this term - and made headlines when he scored against local rivals Real Madrid after just 15 seconds. His joy was short-lived, however, as Rayo Vallecano went on to lose the match 6-2.

Sir Alex Ferguson is reportedly so keen on Michu that he sent brother Martin to run the rule over him at the weekend. And the highlights reel below should provide a flavour of what was in his report.

I havent seen the guy play, the video doesnt show much either, can anyone shed some light on Michu?

He is having the season of his life goal wise with 13 in 24 for RV in the top flight, having spent the last few seasons in the Spanish second division.

Just thought I'd resurrect this thread to say, what a cracking little signing he's turned out to be for the Swans eh?

From what I've seen I still don't think he's good enough for us, but scored 8 goals for Swansea all ready, if he can finish with 15+ in the league, that could be the difference between finishing about 14th and finishing maybe 8th, a difference of 4 million quid in prize money.
