I don't think it was a silly comment , I agree SAF will be rotating the squad it's a long season . But to be honest I can't see Rooney or Van Persie sitting on the bench to often . Maybe this is the year Rooney will start more in the Scholsy role with Welbeck and Van Persie up front . It's more likely we'll go with a 4-2-3-1 with Welbeck getting games both up front and on the left I'd say. I think you'll be surprised how much Rooney and RVP are rested. It's a long season and we've paid for not having enough strength in depth in the past. Hopefully we'll be in all 4 competitions for a long time so everybody will get plenty of games. Plus you never know when an injury crisis may strike. And Welbeck is still learning anyway. You never heard Ole or Teddy complaining and they were both better than Welbeck (them then compared to Welbeck now, he still has time on his side). He'll get plenty of football don't worry.

Wellbeck will continue to get games, he needs to see this as a unique opportunity, here he is, at 21 years old, given the chance to train everyday alongside, play every other week alongside, and watch at close hand, Wayne Rooney and Robin Van Persie.
What a chance to improve your own game, playing with 2 of the top 5 strikers in the world today.
When we signed Yorke a lot of people guessed Solskjaer would leave, hell we even accepted a bid from Spurs for him. But he stayed, continued getting enough football and scored the winner in a Champions League final.
Wellbeck and Chico will be fine, they will get games.

Of course they're not going to be playing every week, even in the Prem so expect the Chicarito's and Welbeck's of this world to get some league games. Also, i'd nearly expect Chicarito and Welbeck to be first choice for the F.A. Cup and Capital One Cup, depending on who we draw, and some CL games. Our Cup side is going to have some bench...!!

Stoke U21 0 United U21 1
Scott Wootton's early strike was enough to earn victory in United's first-ever Under-21 league match at Stoke City as Darren Fletcher played the full 90 minutes to continue his bid for full fitness.
