its not just the fact that so many players have gone to Citeh, i think. Its the fact that they are being successful at Citeh that must hurt the most.
what that must confirm to the Arsenal fans is that the only reason that these players left is because the club didnt match their ambition on a personal ($$$) and professional (trophies) level.
surely the view must be that had they stayed, Citeh's success would have been arsenal's (i know that isnt exactly so, but it can be viewed that way by some), but arsenal didnt do enough to keep these obviously talented and, by Citeh results, winning players.
all it took for them to be winners is a change of manager, better pay, and a smattering of quality players to complement them. and to be honest, the first and last of the three ingredients listed may not have been a problem if the old coach wasnt as stubborn as a dead mule.

fuck van persie, lets go get wilshere. i get the feeling van persie has just had what will be his best season too Whilst I wouldn't simply write off Van Persie, as my previously mentioned 'fear' effect is very important, I like the second bit of your plan. A lot. New plan: Step 1: Ring Arsenal and enquire about what price they want for RVP. Step 2: Agree to whatever price they say, but tell them we're coming down to London to negotiate up-front/appearences/etc. Step 3: In the Emirates, casually leave the meeting to "use the restroom". Step 4: Get "lost" on the way to the restroom and end up in the players' area. Step 5: "Oh, Jack, didn't realise you were here. Hey, we're just in the boardroom upstairs trying to sort out a deal for Arsenal's second best player. Yeah, RVP - you're the best. Obviously What? You're unhappy about RVP going? You want to win trophies as well? In that case why don't I just mention to Arsene and Ivan when I get back up there that we'd like to buy you?! A transfer request? I'm sure they'd let you leave if you handed one in, of course." Step 6: Sign Wilshere. Step 7: Have a BOSS midfield again. ([Optional] Step 8: Sign Robin van Persie.)

I remember posting I'd heard rumblings that RVP would say this back in May. Just need to find the quote so I can enter smug mode.
Anyways, this amused me more than it should: ROBIN VAN PERSIE HE LEAVES WHEN HE WANTS

any whispering that we are in for him tatty? Not that I've heard, but I've been job hunting for a few weeks, so not been out to hear anything. But, I'd be more than surprised if we didn't enquire as to his valuation, if not putting in a formal bid.

Fergie has said that Berba is going on the pre-season tour, if it happens that he eventually stays then you can kiss any whisperings about Van Persie goodbye!!

i think that Berba utterance from SAF was more the club positioning itself with Berba and any club interested in signing him. essentially stating that he's still our plans keeps whatever value he has high. If we said he was staying back and wasnt in our plans then it would essentially say that we want rid, no matter what the price. Plus i dont think SAF had any other option really, if we dont shift him you dont want his nose out of joint before the new season even starts, esp since SAF said that we haven't treated him unfairly.

saw this on a website that was running the RVP story. Found it to be quite an interesting observation from an arsenal supporter and wished to share it with the forum.
the reactions to the RVP story, as expected, have been quite dire. most tend not to be against the player. majority of them, however dont want, but do expect him to go to Citeh.

At least in this case it looks like Wenger has saw the probable move and done something about it, by bringing in Podolski and Giroud, so he's not desperate if RVP leaves this summer.
Last year was just pathetic, incredibly short sighted by Wenger to insist that Cesc and Nasri were staying, then panicking like fuck when they both left and having to make last second moves to bring in a replacement.
It's been obvious all summer RVP is going to leave, finally Wenger has brought a replacement in first.
By the way, though I rate RVP very highly, his injury record is very worrying. Last season is the first season he's managed to stay fit all year, to splash big money on him then watch him tear a muscle and get ruled out for 4 months would be extremely annoying.

In eight seasons at Arsenal, van Persie has only twice started over half of their league games (08/09 and 11/12). - Opta Sports.
Says it all really, let City get him if they want, they might look even more foolish if he pulls up with an injury and barely plays any games, especially if he's on 200+ k a week.
Not saying I won't be pleased if he comes, just that we do have other strikers and wont be gutted if we miss out.
