I wonder what would happen if every intelligent person in the world watched this: The monetary system is one of a number of outdated institutions which control us. A resource-based economy is required for the world to move forward in future. The monetary system, like the political system, is inherently corrupt and unfair, and ultimately unsustainable. regarding money specifically, i expect the system will become more sophisticated in the distant future, physical money replaced by digital/credit, which could eventually evolve into something in line with what the zeitgeists reckon should happen.
i will watch some of that posted clip, just occurred to me yesterday though mate, wouldn't a bartering system be like regressing back to an early age where you exchange services?

It's more about all helping each other and sharing the resources with the whole world rather than just constantly thinking "what's in it for me?". The argument is that there's enough resources in the world for everybody to have enough, and enough renewable energy sources to power the world forever. It's the opposite of backwards really because it's encouraging the advancement of technology, something which is partly held back now because companies are only interested in profit rather than improving the world and the lives of everybody in it.
It sounds a bit fancyful but there are definitely improvements that could be made even in the short term, but it requires people to break out of this current way of thinking that money is everything and the current institutions are the only viable options.
Honestly though mate I feel like I'm not doing it justice trying to explain it. Watching the video will give you a much better idea, or at least part of it since 2 hours is a long time.
There's also talks by Peter Joseph (the founder) on youtube if you want to hear him talking about it personally.

It''s human nature to think "what's in it for me"? All the endless arguments for social cohesion, sharing, social altruism, Marxism and so forth are just fool's dreams. Equality and equal sharing of wealth will never happen for the rest of the existence of the human race. A lack of a monetary system has been done before, the Spartans had no money and look how things turned out for them. You could only move away from a monetary system if the entire world embraced it at exactly the same time, otherwise your country would fall behind, being unable to fund anything. Would the entire world embrace that at the same time? Like hell would it, countries by and large look out for themselves, we might aid each other or send troops but it's always with some form of benefit to the country sending the aid. Look at the challenge of getting every nation to accept cutting carbon emissions, something which should be straight-forward but clearly isn't. Or what about getting Japan to stop their whaling fleets? Or China to improve human rights?
Humans will never change, the nature of politics and finance will never change. We will continue the same for the rest of our time until we have exhausted this planet and either drive or fight ourselves to extinction, and the universe won't even notice.

Nobody's asking everybody to decide to do this at the same time. It will be a gradual process. The monetary system is failing.
I don't really see human greed as natural anyway, I see it as a product of the system in place, one that encourages us to compete against each other for money and relies on people going bankrupt to actually work.
It doesn't have to be this way anymore.
Nobody is saying it's an easy task though, but raising awareness on what the monetary and political systems actually are and how they work is a starting point.

i will watch it def i know it's a complex subject.
it's not so much that it's 'what's in it for me?' but i do believe you can't really help others unless you've helped yourself.

There's two other films too. The first one though probably wouldn't sit well with a lot of people because it includes things like 9/11 conspiracy theories. It's not really anything to do with the movement though just Joseph's personal views. Not really relevant to the whole Zeitgeist movement as it is now, and it's aims etc.
But for some people it might damage it's credibility a bit I suppose.
The 2nd one (above) doesn't really have any conspiracy stuff, just facts really, and suggestions moving forward.

Could give that one a watch too. Even if you don't agree with it it's interesting to think about.

Great quote from the 3rd film "Zeitgeist: Moving Forward":
Hold on, Let me get this straight. The world is going "bankrupt" whatever the hell that means because of this idea called "debt" which doesn't even exist in the physical reality. It's only part of a game we've invented... and yet the well being of billions of people is now being compromised. Extreme layoffs, tent cities, accelerating poverty, austerity measures imposed, schools shutting down, child hunger and other levels of familial deprivation- ... all because of this elaborate fiction... WHAT ARE WE, FUCKING STUPID?

I've said many times that it doesn't make any sense for the mega rich and i'm not talking Bill Gates and Below, I'm talking the people who never get reported on to get any richer. If no one is making stuff because we're too poor then how can they buy anything?
iirc the rothchild family own 40-50% of the worlds wealth

The monetary system failed the roman empire eventually and led to its demise so it always falls over. A resource driven system would be equally as useless because most resources of any value are finite. The system like any system was put in place for one reason and thats control. Marxism, capitalism or socialism pretty much anyway you want to put it there all flawed systems and against human nature to consume and grab what ever you can.
