Petrucci should be in our squad ahead of Giggs and Scholes most games, it'd be the progressive thing to do. Never going to happen though.

not for me. would rather have scholes or giggs come on and change a game rather than an unproven kid.
if he's good enough he'll get through anyway. these things look after themselves

He is not really a kid at 21 though, he did miss almost 2 years of development through injury and growth spurts, which has obviously held him back.
He is a stand out player anytime I have watched the reserves, his is the second best passer of the ball at the club after Scholes. His through balls are immaculate, Chicarito would have a field day with the service he could provide.

When Alex thinks he is ready, he'll be involved. Not a moment before then.

Im more worried its not Alex who gives the nod.If he delegates 1st team duties would he not be relying on reports from elsewhere on the reserves?
We havent trusted youth since 94, I understand the reluctance to try it again as it was a fucking shambles last time, you win nothing with Kids.
Pogba was never given a fair crack and he beasted most reserve games he played.

Bollocks. Both have to be phased out, like, now. Scholes less immediately.

Phased out more of forced onto us i'd say. Its clear that Scholes would well retire at the end of this season and i can't see Giggs feturing more next season if he doesn't hang his boots. In which case we'd be using Carrick in almost every game and thrust Powell/ Petrucci suddenly and then really harp on their backs that they aren't ready when it should have been this season when the gradual learning curve should have been. However i am still hoping that Tunni, petru and powell will get games in CL, PL and the cup competitions on a bigger scale than now - this is apart from Ando getting his game time remember. Its amazing that our problem was Midfield and we have so many yet none breaking into first team. Plus there are defenders knocking. I fear that the time when players at 18-19 breaking into United team are long gone. Seems more like 22-23 the age when they may get chances.

I agree with Jim that Scholes and Giggs's experience are invaluable.
I also agree with Bestie that Scholes and Giggs should move on in the future and to bleed in our youth.
I would like to see a transition, rather than a total phase out. Modern footballers today have careers extending to mid 30's. So technically, 21 is still a pup in the trend of things. Like I said (and many on here), Giggs should occasionally start in games where we could benefit from his talents... more so, he should be relegated to the bench and used as an impact substitute on merit of his performances. Scholes is still a major player for us, but I'd expect him to move on in the same path as Giggs in the future... unless he chooses to retire early.
Most of all, I would prefer if Fergie sorts out the back-room staff though.

Some more recently compiled footage of the lad, If he's available for a fair price I'd not mind at all if we went in for him. His stock is definitely rising, he looks a tough fucker too, we need someone who'll grab the oppo by the collar if our players are getting bossed in midfield.
In short, we can do a lot worse. We seem to overrate much of what we have in midfield whilst having 6/7 midfielders makes us well stocked it doesn't help if they're not consistently able to perform to the standards we need. I really think this lad could be a bargain.
Although I agree you cannot fully judge a player by his youtube compilations this guy seems all-right, picks up the ball in front of the defence and often drives forward, more importantly, he doesn't just hit cross-field balls. He looks to settle the ball and then start things off going forward.

Yes please! He looks like a good box to box player. Young, energetic, an eye for a through ball and a goal here and there + tough fucker as you said jay. We could do with him.

If I'm Kevin Strootman and I'm watching United of late, I'll be wondering why Cleverley and Anderson, two talented youngsters in a rich vein of form, aren't getting regular chances ahead of Giggs and Scholes.
I'd think long and hard.
Then I'd decline any advances from United.

I can't remember, where does Strootman play? If he's a box-box midfielder, great stuff. Although to quote myself from the Holtby thread: I seriously think we should look to getting another Assman in before signing anyone just yet.

Disagree thoroughly. Cleverley was superb vs Arsenal and Newcastle. Other games as well when he started he has looked great. Fluid , quick passing. Giggs has been fucking shite all the games he has started. Ando played fantastic against the rents. My point is, these two have played much better than Giggs this season yet have fewer starts than him. Sends out a stupid message that the gaffer would rather hope Giggs does well rather than use two players who would definitely do better.
