www.manutd.com/en/Players-And-Staff/Reserves/Reserves-News/2012/Aug/united-prepare-for-new-under-21-season.aspxUnited's Academy season kicks off at the weekend with the Under-21s and Under-18s both in action against Stoke City. Warren Joyce takes charge of a team in the Barclays Under-21 Premier League for the first time at Nantwich Town's Weaver Stadium after the change to the Reserves format. The game is live on MUTV and will enable a number of youngsters to obtain valuable match-time, although the exact make-up of the squad has yet to be announced. The likes of Davide Petrucci, Jesse Lingard, Larnell Cole, Ryan Tunnicliffe, Nick Powell and Federico Macheda are all available without taking up any of the over-aged slots but the Reds could opt for field some even younger faces. Hence, Mats Daehli and Adnan Januzaj seem certain to be involved in one of the sides. Paul McGuinness' Under-18s face their Stoke counterparts at the same time at Carrington in their first outing of the season. The youngsters have a wealth of options in midfield, in particular, and should prove entertaining to watch. Meanwhile, a Reserves fixture at Curzon Ashton has been arranged for next Wednesday with a 7pm kick-off.
