I know mate and if he is declining of course we should send him on his way with gratitude. What Im getting at is that there are articles every week in the press attempting to undermine the club, we should check the print to see if its written in ink or oil.

vida should only be sold if the Boss thinks he's declined to the point where it's time to replace him. only a return to fitness and a run in the side is going to give us the answers. one factor is if he's gonna have a constant fight with injuries on his hands and how he copes with it, a la ferdinand. we missed him last season. red nev put together a video package of crucial goals we conceded, and an inability to win a header in the buildup - headers he claimed vida would have won. also red nev said he was the best center half he's ever played with, which is interesting since we tend to debate between him and stam.
there's also the issue of moving a player on to get the next lot in for the future, but smalling and jones don't seem to have enough fitness or games between them where we can say 'they are ready'. subotic seems to always be on the rumour list. we'll have to see. fingers crossed for vida. Vida probably hasnt called him a "busy cunt" though lol. lol don't think that comes into it really. he preferred schmeichel over van der sar in his dream team even though he had his issues with him.

There really shouldn't be a debate on this. You don't sell the best player in his position for anything but insanity money. Ronaldo's £80 million being that ridiculous money marker.
Vidic can and will get back to full fitness, a defenders peak years are 29-33 anyway.
I agree we should get Hummels and Subotic though. Either/or would do for me. Both would be heaven. Although, as I've said before I wouldn't mind that Dortmund team staying together for a while. I reckon Klopp has a chance of a European Cup if he can keep them all.

He wont keep that team together for that much longer, in the modern game this simply will not be allowed to happen. Lewa first to go, then either Gotze or one of their godlike CBs.

I know, which is why I'm sort of romantically hoping for a change! They have a good board there too, should be able to withstand most bids. It's contract renewals etc. that I'd be worried about.

Well if that team is to be broken up, let's just make sure we're at the head of the queue.

Vidic can and will get back to full fitness, a defenders peak years are 29-33 anyway.. Certainly wouldn't say a defenders peak lasts that long, starts earlier than that as well. I doubt Dortmund will manage to keep their team together for the next few years, they are a brilliantly ran team and do not need to cash in but the fact is they aren't one of the big teams. That could change if they continue to do as well as they are and do better in the CL, but I doubt the core players that have now will stay long enough for it to happen. Can see Lewandowski, Gotze and one of Hummels / Subotic all leaving within the next two years. For me, Gotze should be the one attacking player we go all out for in the next year or two, he's going to be a huge star eventually!

www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/transfers/manchester-united-captain-nemanja-vidic-linked-with-anzhi-makhachkala-8212032.htmlwww.goal.com/en-gb/news/2896/premier-league/2012/10/14/3447876/manchester-united-consider-shock-vidic-sale-amid-anzhiThe Old Trafford giants are steeling themselves for a £33 million bid from the Russian club, and United are open to allowing the 30-year-old to leave with doubts increasing over the Serbia defender's longevity and durability, following a second serious knee injury in less than 12 months. Anzhi, meanwhile, who last year made Samuel Eto’o the highest paid footballer in the world when they bought the Cameroon star from Inter Milan, are said to be preparing an eye-popping £200,000-a-week salary in order to tempt Vidic back to Russia, where he spent two years with Spartak Moscow. CHAMPIONS LEAGUE LATEST 10/1 Manchester United are 10/1 with William Hill to win the Champions League A cornerstone of United’s success since he joined the club for £7million in 2006, Vidic missed the majority of his side’s trophyless campaign last season after he suffered a cruciate knee ligament injury during the Champions League defeat against Basel 11 months ago. Vidic returned to the side at the start of the current season but struggled to find his best form, before he damaged the same knee in the build-up to his side’s victory over Liverpool in September and underwent surgery that could force him out of action until January. Sir Alex Ferguson has already planned for the future by recruiting Phil Jones from Blackburn and Chris Smalling from Fulham over the last 18 months, while last season he hailed Jonny Evan’s as one of the Premier League’s best defenders. With United so well stocked in that area, the club would find it difficult to turn down the sort of extravagant bid Anzhi are rumoured to be in the process of making, although last week Vidic’s agent ruled out a potential move away from Old Trafford amid reported interest from Juventus. "Vidic is not playing at this time because he's had surgery, so he's only thinking about his recovery and not about the transfer market," Silvano Martina told itasportpress.it. "Juventus are complete with their non-EU players for this season and it is highly unlikely they will make a bid for Vidic, therefore I can categorically rule out any interest from them. "Vidic is already part of a top club and there are no negotiations with Juventus or Barcelona." While Vidic is not expected to return until December at the earliest, United are likely to welcome back Smalling for next Saturday’s Premier League clash against Stoke and Ferguson could be further boosted by the return of Jones for the crunch meeting with Chelsea a week later. If true £33 million is no joke?

33 million for a 30 year old is crazy money. Although I don't think this will ever happen.

I think the quoted fee is a load of bollocks, I imagine it'd be £20m+ though?

£33 million for a soon to be 31 year old makes me think umm, but then again we'd have to spend a fair whack to get a replacement of a similar calibre.

Only player that springs to mind would be Hummels. Do we really want to see the back of Vidic? That's something I don't even want to contemplate. Hes our legend, no fucker elses.

I don't think anybody wants to see the back of him Paul. But we have to keep in mind that a solid CB pairing that plays as many games as possible is vital to any side. Rio is already on the edge with regards to injury, we cannot have another in a similar condition. Vida's calibre is not in question as much as his fitness and ability to play a run of 30 games without injury.

If Vidic is going for that much, do you honestly think Dortmund are going to sell either of theirs for less??
Some people have spent way too long on Fifa!
