If Vidic is going for that much, do you honestly think Dortmund are going to sell either of theirs for less?? Some people have spent way too long on Fifa! Good point.

Seriously - Dortmund are going to look at it and go "Well, you have just sold your best defender for that much. And you want us to sell you one/both of ours for less? Can i have some of what you have been smoking please Mr Gill?"
It will be 40/45mill each or fuck off. You dont sell a 31 year old defender, trying to come back from a serious injury for that much and buy a younger, similar skilled player for less. Sorry.
And as for the whole "sell him and buy a couple world class players" comment - yes, World Class players go for 16 million now do they? Yet we just sold Vidic for 33?. And people complain about Fergie and his "no value" comments?

Jeez, if Poo are keeping the useless twat Carrigger in their ranks, we'll be laughing stocks to sell Vidic.
No to selling Vidic. £50million minimum to even take a look at the person offering the deal before scoffing away in laughter.

smalling and jones need to get fit and get in the side or they aren't gonna progress as we hope, and we can't afford to lose that potential. if vida is struggling and those two are back in contention then we have to look at moving vida on at some point to get them in place.
if anyone wants to buy vida now then he'd be a short term signing, possibly past his best and struggling with injury. and some people are talking about 30+ mil? not likely.
i love the bloke but we need to be realistic about our expectations.

At least give him a chance to get back to full fitness before making such statements. He was so obviously rushed back early, being the only 'fit' defender at the start of the season. The second injury only compounds that fact. Not to mention those few games he had were his first in 10 months. Thats nothing to base any opinion on whether hes past his best or not. Well it probably is for some of the knee-jerkers on this forum. Anyway selling him is still simply retarded. No point selling off that quality and experience for some younger talent, we already have 2 or 3 of those ourselves. With all our recent injuries over the last 3 years in defence, its baffling anyone would actually contemplate selling one of them.

He'll have well over a month to prove the naysayers wrong before the Jan window closes. Also how the hell does anyone know for sure that Hummels or Subotic will be brilliant for us? Whichever way you look at it a new player is always a gamble, and our defence is our weakest area so far this season. Sticking a new player in just means more rotation, more pressure on two young keepers, and all at the expense of proven quality.

Hardly, he was partly at fault for one of the goals but that was about it, but either way, if we are going to say that then Torres ripped Vidic a new one on multiple occasions yet he's still been hailed as one of / the best CB in the world for the last few seasons. I guess it'll all become a bit clearer in January, would be strange if we did sell then that's when Anzhi may bid, plus it'd just be like last season with us missing for the remainder.

He gave him(them both) a torrid time for the whole game and neither could cope with his pace, which suggests he isnt the quickest. To pay crazy money for a defender who could look as out of place as Mertesacker in the faster paced PL doesnt make sense to me.The defender should be of Rio`s ability and class to spend that kind of money IMO.
Mario has never really troubled us with his pace.

£30m+ for Vidic is ridiculous money, and money we should take should it allow us to bring in someone like Hummels or another player of his talent and age.
A year out has taken its toll with Nemanja, he looks a shadow of himself and will have no doubt dropped another yard of pace. I love the big man but sentiment would take a back seat for me in this decision.
