With everything going on the past couple of days i forgot about the Blue Stars Tournament in Zurich Manchester United have taken an 18-man squad to Switzerland for the Blue Stars FIFA Youth tournament. Warren Joyce is in charge of the side as the Reds aim to lift the trophy for the 19th time in its prestigious 75-year history. The travelling party is a mix of Under-21 and Under-18 players and United are competing in the group stages against Blue Stars, Torino and FC Zurich. The Reds defeated Blue Stars 1-0 in the opening fixture on Wednesday with Adnan Januzaj scoring the goal from a free-kick. The scoreline was repeated against Torino with Januzaj again the matchwinner when blasting home to settle a combative match against the Italian side. A goalless draw with FC Zurich ensured three successive clean sheets and a successful first day in the competition with Januzaj going close to keeping up his goal-a-game record. Cedric Brunner fired one chance wide for the Swiss outfit but an exciting encounter finished 0-0. Squad: Jonny Sutherland, Joel Castro Pereira; Liam Grimshaw, Nicholas Ioannou, Reece James, Donald Love, Luke McCullough, Tom Thorpe; Larnell Cole, Mats Daehli, Charni Ekangamene, Ben Pearson, Andreas Pereira, James Weir; Jack Barmby, Adnan Januzaj, Tom Lawrence, James Wilson. www.manutd.com/en/Players-And-Staff/Reserves/Reserves-News/2013/May/~/link.aspx?_id=1797AF3423594514A300AF9E03D87375&_z=zManchester United finished in fourth place in the Blue Stars FIFA Youth Cup in Switzerland after posting an impressive record in the group stages. A 2-0 defeat to Basel in the third/fourth play-off may have been a disappointing ending to the tournament but there was plenty for coach Warren Joyce to be satisfied with. The Reds had defeated Zenit St Petersburg in the final group game to finish the pool on 10 points which, unfortunately, still was not enough to top the section. Instead, FC Zurich went through to the final on goal difference after the 0-0 draw between the two sides on Wednesday. Zenit's Markov opened the scoring on 11 minutes with the first goal conceded by United in the four games. Captain Tom Thorpe was booked in a competitive affair but a Januzaj double inside three minutes turned things in his side's favour. The Belgian struck to take his tally in the competition to four, scoring all of United's goals, but it took a late Jonny Sutherland save from a free-kick to preserve the three points. www.manutd.com/en/Players-And-Staff/Reserves/Reserves-News/2013/May/manchester-united-finish-third-in-fifa-blue-stars-youth-cup.aspx?newsid=C0BC4EB6-13EF-4C6C-AF0A-BF593A2A518B&utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

I'm sorry, not seen much reserve football this year- who is this kid Pearson and can someone tell him to get ready to go on tour with the first team this summer?! Head and shoulders ahead of every one bar Adjan. Smashing midfielder.

Be interesting for next season, with Moyes saying about bleeding youngsters through, hopefully the likes of Januzaj, Tunnicliffe, Petrucci will get more of a look in. Would love for Moyes to do what Fergie did in 92'.

Not kept tabs on the U21's or reserves that much this season, just seen bit's and peices and a few vid's on youtube, but there's a good group of lads there that given the chance could very will shine in that first team.

EDIT: That is me expressing shock, and then asking if the source of the news about Powell can be deemed as reliable. NOT me asking you if you think Jesus Christ is a reliable source.
