I've had it before and think it's pretty bland tbf. I'd rather just have chicken! Is that right? Well now I'm not curious to try it anymore. Yeah, I've only cooked it twice and it was years ago in the first few years of me starting cooking, so I could've easily fucked it up or not done it justice but I just thought, what's the point? When I had it. Felt it was easily overpowered by the other flavours both times and I only made it with simple ingredients.
Someone else may have a different opinion though, I think Monty used to be a chef so he may come in and tell you it's fucking amazing cooked a certain way. I consider myself to be a bit of a foodie but obviously not to the level of someone who used to do it for a living!

I don't do rabbit. It's a pain in the arse. Each cut takes pretty precise cooking with vastly different cooking times and techniques. And each part will go from perfectly cooked to dry and/or stringy as fuck within a few seconds if you're not careful. You can cook it whole - slow bake it with some mushrooms, potatoes, and herbs, or ratatouille - but results varey. You need to baste it every few minutes. I don't think the finished dish is ever worth the effort when it comes to rabbit, tbh. If you want something that tastes like slightly gamey chicken, go for Guinea Fowl. Much easier to deal with.

Got a monstrous score of early season horse mushrooms this afternoon. Fucking kilos of them. Like 4 bin bags full of them. I wasn't even looking, I just spotted them while out for a walk. It's pretty surprising because it's not really mushroom weather yet.
I think I'm going to have to try to dry most of them, which is going to be a giant pain in the arse for that quantity. I might pickle some.

I couldn't be meat free, I've gone the other way and started the Keto diet, first time I've ever actually tried a proper diet rather than just trying to watch what I eat.
It's basically meat, meat and more meat. Had lamb chops with a garlic and rosemary butter yesterday, chicken with mozzarella and bacon Monday, got plans for bacon wrapped meatloaf tonight.
I'll give it a few weeks and see how I do, I'm about 95kilo's so not huge or anything but could do with getting about 10 off.

no disrespect but everyone saying i couldnt be meat free (for a while etc) is talking bullshit. its a psychological and biological thing. biological in the sense of the things we are used to that make us think that is the way it is and it couldnt ever be different. its a mindset, not something we cant do. its quite simply actually.
that said, i was vegan for almost a decade, felt amazing. from a physiological point of view i was never that fit and healthy, while at the same time earning my money with extreme sport. nothing was missing. at the end of last year i started eating meat again. it was due do my so far worst depression, losing faith in myself and in life. i`m still struggling with that one and have been at home now for almost 9 months, having lost pretty much everything in my life during that time. and i still eat meat and i feel fucking horrible. horrible in two ways: first one is that it doesnt really helps me or makes me feel good after eating it, in a sense of being fit etc. second one is from a psychological point of view. i`m not happy about it and would want to change it, because those are not my ideologies in life. but at the moment i cant change it due to my completely destroyed mind and soul. after months of struggling with it i just learned to accept it. it is the way it is and i got more important things in life to sort out at the moment. and i also know that as soon as i will feel better i will also be able to change my diet again, not neccessarily to a vegan diet again, but changing it into a good path.
i know it sounds ridiculous, someone like me after what i just said, telling you that "i cant live without meat" is bollocks. but trust me, i have a lot of experience with that and its simply not true. its true that some of us might not be able to do it because we believe we cant do it but that doesnt mean that its not possible or would benefit us.

With equal amounts of respect, I'd appreciate not being told I'm talking bullshit and bollocks, thank you very much.

with even more amounts of respect back to you mate but its the truth. you wont die a horrible death if you keep it out of your life. that said, i`m not saying its the right decision to leave it out. just stating that its simply not true that we cant live without it.

Finding it hard to eat beef anymore. It's incredibly destructive to the planet. Never will stop eating chiclen though.

im having fake meat so it totally satisfies my cravings. Linda McCartney is all fake meat but the texture and taste is superb. the meatballs are better than actual beef meatballs you get from the supermarket as they have more flavour. I could do keto as I enjoy eating carbs too much. my mate has done it and lost a bit of weight doing it.

Can confirm these are the best burgers I've made. Even the re-heated ones after I froze a batch were juicy af!

You can tell they aren't meat, but it doesn't really matter when you've got crispy yokshires and mustard sauce with them. Haven't tried anything else from that line, though. I don't mind quorn, either. I made a creamy mushroom and quorn cottage pie last night. It was properly delicious. Surprisingly delicious. I wish I'd thought of putting that on the menu when I was still cooking professionally. Would be a great vegetarian pub dish.
