The Vita is the best handheld on the market currently. Absolutely no doubt about that. If you are a regular console gamer you might like it seeing as it has many console titles and many Vita exclusive games as well.

im not a regular gamer on my ps3 just because i cant be arsed turning it on and sitting in front of the tv for hours, but i like the idea of a handhell console where you can just pick it up and have a few quick games. would also be handy for bringing to work or travelling.
the spec on the Vita does sound impressive but the games are highly priced

Yup. The price is definitely on the higher end. But so are the titles available. Uncharted, AC, FIFA, KillZone etc. Definitely a handy travel companion.

I have a Phat PSP from way back when, bought it second hand from a lad in Grammar school. Bearing in mind I'm years out of a 4 year University degree by now, it'll give you an idea of long ago I got it. I still play it, it's brilliant for travelling/commuting. Things like PES/FIFA or Tiger Woods are awesome.
Don't know about the Vita, never felt the need to upgrade.

havent owned a hand held since probably a Game Gear when i was a kid.
if you want to do it cheap then getting a PSP, having it chipped and downloading the games is the way forward. although i can't possibly condone this course of action
prob won't be long before you can do the same with the vita and all.

I may or may not have hacked the PSP myself as it is so easy. That way I may or may not be able to DL games for nowt which makes owning the thing a lot more brilliant and inexpensive. Possibly.

i'm gonna keep an eye out to see if the Vita comes rushing out as well.

No 'chipping' in the old sense necessary. You just need to install particular custom firmware. Some of the newer models don't support it though.
Apparently.

the vita does look a proper good bit of kit. i'm def not getting anything hand held (vita's, ipads etc) while my laptop is shite and i need a decent PC. those are priorities. although they are both lagging behind a new guitar amp and a snow boarding trip next year... once the firmware is out it could be worth a squirt
