Honda's are very reliable are cars and hold their money as well, Mates for a type R and it shifts fair play for a N/A engine its mental once it hits 6k revs. |m basing the below on the fact that this is your first time doing so, So my advice would be to check the following (some are common sense) * Check what tax comes with it. (most dealers wont renew the tax so your left to sort it out yourself, perfect way to haggle them down if not. If they dont agree to this try and get them to fill the tank as payment for being out of pocket for the tax). * Start the car up and listen for any knocks or tapping ( the civics do tap a little when cold sometimes, take it for a test drive and listen for anything strange, also put your foot down, your spending a lot on a car so your going to want to know how it can perform legally obviously ). * Service History - what and where it was carried out. * If the Car is HPI clear (check the car hasnt been in any accidents and is road legal, sounds daft because a dealer is selling it but all may be not what it seems). * Obviously check the car for any dents, scratches marks on the exterior or anything inside. (also check the tyres and brakes aswell) * Check when the Cambelt was last done. (this is expensive as they do the water pump with it, should be done every 60k or every 5 years). *Check under the bonnet (fluids etc). *Also check the log book and make sure everything is in order (mileage matches etc). By the way you don't have to bother with half of this, Im very particular when spending 4 figure numbers on something so I do go a bit O.T.T lol. Good luck anyway hope you enjoy what ever you end up buying. Civic you wont be dissapointed with it.

Cheers Paul some sound advice there, i really wanted a bigger engine but you've got to look at the economics nowadays!! Not sure if civics have a cambelt will have to double check that. I know where you coming from there Jim i'd be lost without my van but as its only a two seater i'm now starting to miss my car!!

Itll either be a cambelt or a chain mate. Just check when they were last changed. Dont want that going. Im kinda the opposite, fuck economy just get me there quicker
