It's great Piers Morgan is still with us of course.
Rio can wind him up on Twitter, now almost daily!

I don't really get the big fuss about Arsenal falling out in the League Cup to a lower tier side. We've had our fair share of League Cup shock exits in recent years?
Anyway, I reckon, much like the Liverpool fans have had to do, Arsenal fans might have to come to terms with the fact that they are simply not up there with the best in England anymore and it's not their divine right to pitch up away from home and expect a win. I feel we're (us on RoM at least and most realistic fans) pretty grounded at times as we know what competition it'll be and whether we'll be playing youngsters etc.

It's always embarrassing when a PL team goes out to a smaller team, and that embarrassment goes up exponentially the bigger the big team is and the smaller the small team is. We get stick when we go out to smaller teams, so I'll be damned if I don't enjoy it when it happens to other teams. And the fact that this time it was Arsenal - coupled with their fall from the heights of the late 90s early 00s - makes it somehow funnier.

I get it's amusing Dan, considering our rivalry with them in the 90s I too find it funny.
I just saw the massive charade made about it on Skysports and thought to myself, So what? It's the League Cup?
Let's leave it there, it's pretty funny hands down and I'm sure this thread will provide even funnier material down the line.

But the league cup becomes more than just the league cup when you've won fuck all for nigh on 8 years.

I blame the national team set-up in France and Wenger's complete disillusionment with English players. You look at the core players from Wenger's best Arsenal teams and there is a definite Anglo-French flavour to them. Seaman, Adams, Viera, Petit, Parlour, Henry, Wiltord, Pires, Anelka. It's clearly England's and France's fault for not producing good enough young players Wenger can turn into world-beaters.

All you have to do is look at the team Wenger put out. In future years they would never have put out such a strong squad. Now he needs the league cup to ease the pressure. And also, I'm proud of our League Cup wins, so shut up.

I feel we're (us on RoM at least and most realistic fans) pretty grounded at times as we know what competition it'll be and whether we'll be playing youngsters etc. The difference between us and them is: 1. We have generally fielded a clearly reserve team, mainly made up of young players with our main players not playing when we've went out. They had 8 of the starting 11 that played against West Brom in the team, that was pretty much their best side that lost. 2. We lose no one really cares because we'll continue to win/challenge for other trophies. They aren't. They can't win anything, so something like this is a big chance to finally win a trophy and their best side lost to a division 2 team.
