Aye. The most open and random league to play in. Next to the League of Ireland.

Well, it used to be open and random. Now it's Schalke 1st and random to see who gets to be second! Muah-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!
Also, you're a year behind me, but have you got close to the UEFA co-efficient yet to get the 4th European Cup slot? We're still lagging behind Spain in third at the moment.

Mainz is dominating in the league as well, with the other clubs seemingly ordered on a dice roll. Speaking of Schalke, they got relegated last season, but they took the German Cup down with them hahha. Pure random league, this. Haven't gotten the co-efficients yet. Other German clubs aren't doing too well in Europe, Mainz is the only one carrying the flag well in Europe. Bloody Scotland is doing better than Germany right now, fuck.

It's still no North West Counties Football League Premier Division though lads Up against the mighty Maine Road, AFC Liverpool, Bootle & Wigan Robin Park (amongst others)

Nightmare. Mine has been kind of the same. Until I started doing stuff in Europe with Schalke, only really Bayern were at the races. Germany are still 4th, but about 10 behind Spain and Italy and 5 ahead of France. Dortmund and Bayern both seem to be having alright seasons this time though. Hoping to close that gap!
Speaking of Bayern, they just threw £ 31 million at Montpellier for a Brazilian newgen striker. I'm 8 points clear in the League right now but fuuuuuuuuuuu. . .

Keep spending year in and year out, but they can't do better than 5-7. They've been runners up once, third place once, but they've made that 5th-7th spot their own. Haha.

Weird. They're the only team to break my stranglehold and stopped my first hat-trick of titles three seasons ago. Since then I've battered basically anyone in sight. After city beat us in the League (life) I went into an FM rage and won 17 League games on the spin the next season before drawing in January.
They're back up there this season, but now that I've looked back at it, they were 5th the first two years I won the League, then they beat me on the final day, then they finished 13th the season after that! Last two seasons they have been second, and they're second this season. Dunno what to think now you have brought it up! Always just focus on what my main title rivals (or top 4, in my first season) are doing really.
Leverkusen are the consistent team in my game, always 2nd or 3rd, except last season where they came 5th by some way. 10 points behind Stuttgart.

Yes, Leverkusen are very consistent with me as well. Always have a good run-in for the title going with them year in and year out.

The last Football Manager (Championship Manager - same thing?) I played was the 2001 one. Have things progressed? Should I get back into it?

In a word? Yes. Champ Man 2001/2002 is still one of the best I have ever played though. My mate had an epic Hull City career in that one. Good times. . .

football manager is made by the people who made championship manager after they fell out with someone and decided to make a 'new' game

My Moors team have now been promoted from the blue square prem with about 6 games to go ;D - we're also on target to have scored over 100 goals this season in the league
