The youth haven' had a great time recently in the 2 tournaments they have played.
Hammered 4-1 in the Semi-Finals by Sporting in the NexLions Cup, although they did beat Singapore in the 3rd/4th place playoff.
They also finished the Group Stages of the Mercedes-Benz Junior Cup with just a point from their 3 games. After losing 2-1 to Schalke in their opening game, they drew 1-1 with Copenhagen, before losing the final game 4-0 to Stuttgart.
To be fair to them it was a 6-a-side tournament - something they aren't used to, especially against the Germans who are.
Mats Daehli, James Wilson & Jack Barmby were the standout players i think over both tournaments.

I hope this doesn't dent their confidence...
I see that Pereira has signed professional terms. Not seen anything of him. Any idea what he is like?

Good player - along with Daehli, Barmby & Januzaj we should have the makings of a decent midfield if all goes well.
What is it with Belgium and decent players at the mo??

Cheers SET (where have you been btw?)
It is odd about Belgium but as long as we have our share then I'm cool with it....
I really hope some of these lads get a chance (although I find myself saying this every year....). From what I've seen of Daehli, Wilson, Januzaj etc. we have a lot of talent coming through....

I read an article a while back by a respected journalist who predicted that we'd see Belgium win on of the next major tournaments.

That Sporting game was weird, we looked just as good as them in the first half, I think we were 1 up at half time, but physically we were absolutely gone in the second half, Sporting looked a lot more comfortable in the conditions and were a strong, athletic team aswell so they just over ran us but I've never seen us so lacklustre in terms of effort as in that half, the players really were dead on their feet I think. Caught a few of the 6-a-side games as well, the first day we looked like a 11-a-side team trying the adjust, far too rigid positionally and not playing a style suited to that type of game but I saw the game against Lazio on the second day and we played some wonderful stuff, Daehli especially was magical at times, so we seemed to adjust quickly to the demands, just a shame there weren't a few more games. Just to add ; we had 3 more games than the ones you mentioned in which we beat Dortmund 2-1, lost to Mainz 2-1 and beat Lazio 7-2 in our last game.
