In the CL even a team who gets an easy path to the final and goes on to win it needs to have a half decent team. Madrid actually had a difficult path last season to get there and won it. Although Pool had an easier route they still had to get past City who were a better team last season than this imo . Chelsea had a tough run to win their CL. Ours in 99 was shockingly tough. I know it’s a cup competition but that squad was long past it’s best. Van Persie papered over the cracks. I think the nostalgia of it being Fergies last chance in the CL overhypes how far behind that squad was against the best. |
